Nigerian judicial system though. Its either the penalty is too lenient or very harsh. They are never commensurate.

Ohooooo I was just wondering how will someone be in jail for 235 years when the live span of man is not up to 120 years. Thanks for explaining in details

In the US, there are people who are sentenced to life imprisonment (without parole) plus 25 years (for example)…
These sentences may run concurrently (the source doesn’t clarify), but sometimes a sentence is imposed to make a statement.

or maybe the prison will hold his corpse after death...till the 235years is completed...HE WILL BE BURIED AND HIS GRAVE CHAINED FOR THE NUMBER OF YEARS LEFT...funny but true
grin İt's because of the amount of charges. Each charge has a sentence and he could get his sentence overturned for some. All in all, this guy might spend up to 60 years in prison and in the worst case scenario, all his life.

You mean consecutive jail term? Concurrent jail term is when they run the same time while consecutive jail term is when they are served differently. I believe this man was sentenced to run consecutively.

Depends on how many count charges he is found guilty. And he will serve concurrently. It's necessarily not 235 number of years

But reading the case, there was no word on concurrently which is scary. In the US, this guy spends maybe 10 years.

If you commit multiple crimes, you have multiple counts, so if the punishment for one crime is 10 years imprisonment, they'll multiply it by by the number of counts, but you'll serve the jail term as one instead of the multiple years.

They should stop being dramatic...45 count charge. Guilty on all. 35 count carry 5 years each..the other 10 cou t charge carry 6 years each. All to run concurrently.
With jail term, the guy no go spend pass 4.5 calendar years for jail

It's on a 45 count charge so the sentence will run concurrently. It could be 5 years on each count charge amounting to that number of years or it's just split here and there. Not sure he'll do beyond 10 years max...
