Pls is it wise to leave an insurance job of 40k monthly salary in Lagos mainland to a new job in my field of studies(production) of 60k salary plus accomodation and Health insurance (salary is subject to review after 6mnths probation period)? In the insurance job, there's a chance of hitting million naira commission on mega transactions but such big transactions doesn't come easily. Pls kindly advise, I am very confused. Most jobs that comes with accommodation is a semi hell and you will not have official closing time. The insurance job is still better as you're well familiar with the up and down also to some extent you're free to go places even without restrictions, that freedom alone is an asset. Also in Insurance, aside the basic pay, you have the chance to earn unlimited commission. My recommendation, continue the insurance job and continue job hunting on one side. Buy a laptop and learn top selling skills on YouTube. Be wise bro. 11 Likes |

But if u are having issues with accomodation or paying of rent, i would advise u go for the 60k job while u make a enough save to be self-employed. I.e Go into ur own business and make ur own money. Let me give you good advice. Go for the one that gives you enough time to do other things, hustle and look for other jobs. Both salaries are Crap. Don't settle or limit yourself with the hope of a better tomorrow in that same place. If dem too promote you maybe you'll start earning 100k after 4yrs. Consider yourself unemployed until your monthly pay is above 120k....and stay OBIdient 25 Likes 4 Shares

The answer is easy. You have no future in insurance. Your career growth in insurance is based on the type of client you can bring.Insurance is literally a sales job of selling insurance in a land where insurance is hated. It is not an impossible mission but a waste of time. Go for the second option in your field of study ( 60k salary plus accomodation and Health insurance (salary is subject to review after 6mnths probation period) You have the opportunity for career growth if it is a big company 8 Likes 1 Share |

Confidant010: Leave that insurance job. My first job was insurance sales. Ours was even better because it was even Bancassurance. Most of my colleagues that stay back because of comission are still stuck there. The only thing I advise them now is to collect reference letter, look for funds to block Account and apply for canada PR. 3 Likes 1 Share |

take the 60k job, there is certainty of salary increase after 6 months, you could wait for two years and not get that million Naira commission. take the. 60k job, try to have some savings and build another business on the side 1 Like 1 Share |

Take the other job of 60k with a free apartment. It is expensive to rent a place these days. After 6 months, they might increase your salary to over 100k if you perform well during the probation period. Don’t make the mistake of remaining in the insurance company for just 40k. You will most likely never get that million commission you’re anticipating. That is just a scam to keep you there. 2 Likes 1 Share |

If the production job is something that you'll love doing and can learn and develop yourself there, then move. I'm first an advocate of people doing what they love and what has a future or, at the least, a role to play in the future that they desire for their lives. If you don't have the passion for the insurance job, just leave it and not waste your time, believing that one day you'll just hit that big sale that would earn you those millions as commission. Sometimes those are things companies tell you to make you forget your own dreams and put you in an unending chase. Years would pass fast only for you to realize one day that you haven't achieved anything for yourself to move forward in your life, you haven't gotten the millions and times just passed |
