The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye recently held a sermon at the July Holy Ghost Service at the church headquarters in Mowe, Ogun State. During his sermon, the clergyman beseeched Christians to start defending themselves as a result of the rising insecurity in Nigeria

In his words, he said this, “From now on it is going to be fire for fire. Some jokers said Churches should not open for three months. Who is your commander? God or Boko Haram; let the devil try any nonsense, from now on, it is going to be fire for fire.”.

Nevertheless, I think Pastor Adeboye is totally right about his recent statement. It is with no doubt that Christians in Nigeria have faced a lot of persecution in the past few months and the government has not too much to curb this ugly trend.

Therefore, Christians should be more prayerful and watchful everyday. Also, vigilantes can be appointed to safeguard places where security is lacking.
