Basically, fuel is transported to station via diesel guzzling tankers.

Meanwhile the same fuel is sold at a loss....

So, at the end, if IPMAN is not allowed to increase prices to cover the cost of transporting fuel...it would soon become unprofitable to sell the thing.

So either deregulate...or keep on suffering shortages.

Americans are buying at almost$5/ litre
That is almost #3,000 if fully deregulated. The level of poverty, crime will be unprecedented!

So what exactly will we say Nigerians are enjoying from their government despite being about the no 3-4 largest oil producer in the world?

So we should continue throwing away money because cheap fuel?

Would you want government setting your prices so that they can help the poor?

Is not the subsidy already eating money that could have been used for other things, and hampering growth in new refining capacity?

If you want a subsidy, then do as other countries do...and raise your tax to gdp ratio to at least 20-30% TO PAY FOR IT.

Deregulation is the answer, but the government and the opposition are both waffling and wobbling over the matter, because politics.

At the end, if you want no queues, remove subsidy, remove government money, make NNPC private, and see if those dead refineries won't come roaring back, and new ones won't come up in minutes....

Yes, high prices, but yes...possible increase in investment and jobs, and government saves money.

And the diesel that was deregulated doesn't experience scarcity? My company was looking up and down here in Asaba searching for diesel sometime last week.

2. Why should a govt who vehemently denied existence of subsidy be campaigning for its removal without first apologizing for lying to the people? People of very low moral standard, dishonest and untrustworthy.

In other words, you want to buy petrol at N40 per liter.

Subsidy exisits. Anyone saying it does not exist is lying. And you should not believe in lies.

But the issue is not the government...you want fuel at N40 per liter.

Hopefully when the street protests and violence starts, it happens in your area first.

Tens of millions of people will be rendered destitute in a N700 per liter world.

This is what happens when you group people with different ideologies together. Disunity is the enemy of progress.

Only a unified country can fight for commin goal. Democracy is salt to injury in the life of every Nigerian. A tribalistic country can never enjoy through democracy. The best Nigeria can do is to reverse lord lugard. Deeply we don't see ourselves as one. Nigeria is facing system problem.

You cannot keep doing thesame thing over and over again and expect different result.

Foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of a liitle mind. #RWE

I know, but tens of millions of people are already destitute due to the budget deficits, lack of growth and lack of profitability brought about by subsidy, to say nothing of the mass loss of money due to smuggling.

Take yer difficulty. The more oil prices rise, the more we would have to spend to keep fuel cheap. Either we get real, or we keep on spending and spending.

P.S : I believe that if you were in business, you would sell at a loss to help the poor. I'm not making fun of you. I am making inferences from your comment.

You're talking about taking even gasoline subsidy off, the one they took off from diesel and aviation fuel, what exactly have they done with it?

Nigeria where they have stolen and actually still stealing from our present and future generations .... If they deregulate, they'll still loot same. Bunch of kleptomaniacs!

Government officials like former Accountant General, many ministers, NNPC, Federal State, LG legislators, Governors, the list is endless!

Deregulations will only give them more to loot while the populace will suffer the highest and worst inflation. Take a look at food prices and other essential commodities... Until corruption is dealt with, subsidy must stay

low minimum wage issue, our economy is still in a bad shape, This is the reality now....it has to be one step at a time. Fuel prices dictates lives of any country's economy. The higher it goes the harder it gets in the country,if you deregulate then increase minimum wage and formulate policies that would attract a lot of investors to increase fdi and remove numerous bottlenecks in the sectors.a 30k minimum wage can't survive on a #800 per litre fuel.

I found out Nigeria can't even produce up to 2m barrels anymore and the cause of this is the same corruption in the sector, there are issues that hasn't been addressed let alone solved in that sector. Look at diesel that is being sold for almost 1k naira, companies using diesel are struggling to cope and there is no subsidy on Diesel.

Solve every issue and gradually reduce the percentage of money going into fuel subsidy till every problem has been solved.

It is not as easy as you say it when we still have many unsolved problems in our sectors.

I want honest govt, not dishonest bunch of thieves. People who will say anything just to grab power. If a people have been known to be consistently dishonest, why should I believe anything they say? If Buhari and his govt wants to remove subsidy, let them first own up and admit first that they lied to people in order to get power, then we can begin to discuss further. How are you even sure the figures they flaunt about how much they spend on subsidy is not lie? The guys in power lead by Mr disintegrity has lost the right to govern. If subsidy is what they have left for common man, let it be.

Well, Niger, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ghana , Ivory coast have minimum wages about our level, or less....and pay more for fuel.

Plus we waste money that could have been used to buffer our minimum wages on subsidy, and as the cost rises due to rising cost of crude oil....the amount spent on subsidy rises.
