2023: Tinubu Asks Sharia Council To Mobilise For Politics

All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential aspirant, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has charged the Supreme Council for Shari’ah in the country to create a department of political affairs to create political awareness among the faithful towards producing a Muslim president in 2023.

“There is a need for us to act toward our prayers, the emergence of a good leader but we need to partake in political activities. Almighty Allah answers our prayer through our actions so while praying let us act towards it.

“Tinubu disclosed that he would visit the council across the state to solicit support to make his presidential ambtion a reality”.

“Through the president of the Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria, I will visit all states of this nation. I can’t be opportune to see all Muslims in Nigeria but through the Muslim leaders, we can make it happen,” Tinubu said.

Senator Abbo Calls Tinubu ‘Irresponsible’, Resigns From Support Group Over Muslim-Muslim Ticket

It is very irresponsible of Tinubu to take his political survival over the stability and peace of Nigeria,” Ishaku Abbo, the senator representing Adamawa North, blasted APC presidential candidate Bola Tinubu for picking a Muslim as his running mate.

Mr Abbo has since resigned his membership of a Tinubu support group over the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the APC.

“For Tinubu now to be given the ticket and turn around to do what he couldn’t achieve in 2015 despite opposition from Catholics and other Christian leaders is extremely irresponsible,” the federal legislator added.

He accused Mr Tinubu of refusing to take a cue from the opposition against his vice-presidential ambition and how President Muhammadu Buhari opted for a Christian running mate in 2015.

“Buhari fought a civil war and understands the consequences of a divided nation. When Tinubu wanted to be VP in 2015, Buhari said no because he understood the importance of unity,” explained Mr Abbo.

Catholic Bishops Condemn APC, Tinubu’s Choice Of ‘Muslim-Muslim’ Ticket: Nigeria Not Ripe To Have President, VP Of Same Faith

Catholic Archbishop of Abuja Diocese, Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama, described the choice of APC Muslim-Muslim ticket as unfortunate.

Archbishop Kaigama maintained that Nigeria as a country was not ripe for a same faith Presidential ticket.

“When you decide that only one religion will produce the major actors, excluding others who will become like strangers, it would not be fair and just. For the sake of religious sensitivity in a place like Nigeria, it is good that we have a balance so that we become like one big family,” he said.
