Yesterday, contributing to the reactions that surround the APC M-M ticket, one monika @Elemosho478 created a post on politics section to explain that the yorubas don't care about religion. Yes, the post may be right to some extent, and even so, it is not enough assurance that APC will receive a massive from the Southwest, with its same-faith ticket.

Truly, the Yorubas care less about religion even though such a trait is now fading amidst the ethno-religious crisis that has rocked the nation since the beginning of Buhari's civilian government. The little trace of religious tolerance still observable among the southwesterners does mean a large number of Christians in the region won't vote against APC in the coming election. Believe it, APC won't record the size of votes that the party would have garnered if the ticket had been a balanced one.

Southwest Christians have no issue with Tiinubu, their Muslim brother, even though they expect Osibanjo to get the ticket since Buhari, a Muslim, will complete an 8-year tenure by 2023. Did you notice any uproar from Christians in the region when Osibanjo was disgraced from the race? You can notice the number of Christian politicians in the area who step down for Tinubu, instead of Osibanjo_their brother in Christ.

Did you also notice how CAN and the southwest Christians swallow the insult in Osibanjo's humiliating exit from the race? They didn't issue any statement condemning Tinubu's victory in the primary election. They considered the result of the primary election as part of politics and accepted it since it would return the presidency to the south. This shows the level of religious tolerance among the people of Oduduwa nation, and the large southern Christians generally.

The outcry against the M-M ticket, as shown by a large number of Christians, is not a hate for Islam but a worry about the conquest mentality that the Fulani will parade if the ticket succeeds. It will make the Hausa-Fulanis see themselves as the owners of Nigeria and the overlord of the nation's politics. The south would be nothing before them again, as they would merely regard it as a conquered territory.

Christians voting against the APC in the next election is not a vote against Islam or Muslims; it is a vote against the hegemonic Fulani. After six years as VP, with Jonathan and eight years as president, with Buhari, they still greedily made Tinubu know that they wouldn't support him unless he made them a part of the ticket.

It is a wrong thought by the Yoruba Muslims if they see their Christian brothers rejecting the Tinubu APC M-M ticket as a betrayal. The dislike of the Hausa-Fulanis for a Southern Muslim to represent them at the national level is nauseating. The Yoruba Muslims should know that the real hater of Tinubu's candidacy is the Muslim north, who will never vote for Southern Muslims, the people they consider as half-Muslims, inferior Muslims, or as conquered minorities (I don't want to use the words conquered slaves, that would be insulting). Their only condition to support their southern ummah brother is to make them part of the contest. Here in the North-central, you will see many mosques built by the Yorubas and labelled Yoruba Mosque as a protest against the Islamic supremacy of the Hausa-fulanis who will not queue behind an Islamic scholar of southern extraction as the Imam to lead prayer for them.
