Police should be number 1

Police is inclusive when you consider judicial process thoroughly.
Correctional services (prisons) also inclusive

As someone who understand world politics a little, my observation is that the Judiciary s the most important area that makes a country less corrupt. And when corruption is down to the minimal, a lot of things work right positively for the country.

With all the anti-corruption agency we have in Nigeria and at the rate which they have been working lately, if we have a working independent) Judiciary that can work without political influence, there will be:

1. Less corrupt politicians
2. Accountability from financial officers
3. Less political thugs etc

When politicians and financial officers know there is no room to escape whenever they do wrong, the fear of been jailed will make them think right.

I will rather we have a working Judiciary than expecting miracles to happen by voting any political candidate
Gbam!!
I'm disillusioned by the idea that one political candidate can work a miracle and turn Nigeria around. But if we get our judiciary and legislature working, then we have a shot at turning our fortunes.

Major problems lie with executives. It is where corruption stems from. They are the people that enforce the law. Imagine the number of them wreaking havoc in this our dear country.

The Judiciary is too partial, where the rich are always freed and the poor are always guilty.

No justice

Now someone is talking

The centerpiece of any prosperous society is a reliable justice system.
America is organised because the justice delivery system is guaranteed not that the people are good.

When we talked about good old days, what you will notice is that those days justice was swift and local.

Now, justice is delayed and you may even have to travel 100km away from the crime scene to get justice. Not to talk of strangers being law enforcers in your local community ie the police.

Make people afraid of committing crime and crime will reduce. This notion of people changing for a better society is an illusion. I cannot be a good person every time when my coworker is embezzling money and not just getting away with it, he is being celebrated as being smart

The Judiciary, Legislators and Executives are the monsters. Not the gullible politicians as we may think. The earlier we start shedding lights on them the better for our future as a country.

You have a good point. The Police needs to work on enforcing the law but we obviously know this is not happening anytime soon because corruption has eaten deep into the system and it is beneficial to even the Police themselves are a beneficiary of the corrupt system that is why you see them harassing every good person out there and they are always quick to flex their power on helpless citizens but they chicken out on the top officials.

Skankamola:
The judiciary is actually nothing without a good police force to investigate and prosecute in accordance with laid down laws, remember the efcc, icpc were carved from the police force. The judiciary may be good but can do nothing without someone investigating and prosecuting.

The laws are there but unfortunately our guys doing the investigation/prosecution are just as corrupt as those they supposed to go after. If we fix our security set up most of the problems we are faced with would ease out.

Sir
The article eh
It's not gonna work here in our forsaken country
I believe in COMMUNISM
As that is the closest system of government to bring political stability to this country

Even if this country is divided into fragment and atomic compartments
Corruption will never end nor reduce to the bare minimum.

But a very strong leader with a clear plans
Say 15-20 year's plan would be welcomed
Russia and North Korea as castudy

We rather need strong and independent institutions. Judiciary cannot do it alone. PMB only recently pardoned high profile treasury looters prosecuted by Efcc, convicted by the Judiciary,

There's nothing stopping state government from prosecuting him again. Its always weird how people expect the federal government to clean up the local issues. If the state government prosecute him with the same evidence he goes to jail and no federal pardon can save him. You'll just have to worry about the next weirdo pardoning him.

Investigation and Prosecution are done by Federal Agencies. ie Police. And sometimes by the State AG. No State Police in Nigeria. States also need to enact State Anti corruption laws first and create the necessary bodies. Lagos State did sometime ago but you know Lagos is inside the pocket of one man, Tinubu. How many have they prosecuted? None.
Convicts still have right of Appeals up to Supreme Court which is beyond the States. And under the control of FG

It's the excesses of the State Actors or inaction that prompted the Federal govt.

Yes the investigation are handled by federal police but so what? You are aware state prosecutors and police work together to convict people everyday. I do agree decentralizes police, new laws and state agencies agencies would be nice. These guys appeals everyday including the clown Buhari pardoned. I agree the FG stepped in because the state legislatures are lazy and corrupt. They will have to step up because the federal government can't clean this mess by themselves.

The current crop of politicians will continue to trample on the judiciary, and will never give them a breathing space to operate independently.
..
Now Answer Me..
Amongst all of the aspiring politicians, which one of them do you think would have the will power to allow a high level of independence for the judiciary, and at the same time, set measures in place to curb their inordinate excesses??
