Foreign media are now on to the biggest story out of Nigeria this year, while Nigerian media continue studiously pretending that it doesn't exist.

Investigation of Nigeria’s frontrunner. In West Africa Weekly, David Hundeyin examines how Bola Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos state and front-runner in Nigeria’s 2023 presidential election, became involved in a drug investigation.

In the 1990s, Tinubu fought a lawsuit in which the U.S. government accused him of being connected to a bank account laundering the proceeds of heroin trafficking—eventually reaching a $460,000 forfeiture settlement without indictment. A current court case in Nigeria also accuses Tinubu of secretly controlling and siphoning funds through the firm Alpha Beta Consulting, which collects taxes in Lagos. Tinubu has denied the reports as “unsubstantiated allegations.”

There is a difference between indictment and conviction.
The query in 2003 or so that cleared Tinubu was on conviction. The US embassy was asked if he is an ex convict which they replied in the negative.
Tinubu is not an ex convict. He was indicted on drug and money laundering related crimes.
The feds have about 95% conviction rate if they ever go to trial.
So Tinubu was smart enough to take the deal. The documents are all well archived here and in the public domain.
So next time you fools want to confuse yourselves and your slow followers, query about his indicted, not conviction.
