Just imagine the nonsense this one is saying. So, if it were an ambulance coming, they won't leave the road.

Rather than call for the resolution of the gridlock. That’s what power can do.

They were wrong to switch off engine and block the road. The police even got there 15 minutes later.

Them go chop fine or community service.

“ Akala.

“On getting to that point, we saw a car that was not ready to give us a sign as we approached. We told the driver of the car to give us a chance to go so that he could have some space to move on as well. But he ignored us.”

The friends turned off their car engine because of the gridlock caused by the other car. They considered it a normal disagreement that happens on the road. At some point, they considered leaving the car on the road to return later but ditched the idea.

“We never even got into any argument or any fight. Nobody was ready to give way for the other. We wound our windows up and remained in the car looking at each other. The man in the other car came down from the car, brought out his phone and said that he would teach us a lesson. We did not know who he was, said Ige”.

Pride, arrogance, irresponsibility and foolishness on the part of the three friends was dealt with instantly by the police officer. The three friends thought it was business as usual to get into an argument, turn off the car engine and go to a beer parlour to show off your peanuts as wealth. They met someone in authority and they learnt their lessons on road usage.

The Police officer was 100% right to detain them and have them charged to court. I look forward to many more of such news.

Those guys were lawless and guilty. The PRO did right by not allowing impunity and letting them get away with their wrongdoing. Obstructing traffic will surely be something they won't take for fun ever again.

What if a fire truck was on an emergency run or a medical emergency had happened and that stretch of road was the way?

The disturbing part was they were there for the whole 15 minutes till policemen came to arrest them. Haba.

The country would be in a better shape if everyone followed public laid down rules. It helps us all.

Exactly, the 3 idiots thought they had the power to block traffic by turning off their car in the middle of an already bad traffic situation. The good PRO taught them a very important lesson.[/quote

Thank you very much...3 idiots. They even blocked it for over 15mins not minding other users...

So na to lock them up be the solution to the disagreement abi Na so una go dey support oppressors
Mr man they were charged to court.
It is actually an offence to obstruct traffic.
On the surface what the pro did was bad,but if you go deeper,he only used his authority to hasten a punishable offence committed by the 3 guys.
They even have the nerve to say they were even contemplating walking away after switching off their engine in the middle of a traffic gridlock!
The arrogance of Nigerians is so amazing and it takes a uniform authority to humble them most times.
Someone bashes the average Nigerian car and the next thing they do,right in the middle of a road is to switch off their engine, come down and start fighting to get the guilty party to repair the dent.
Most of the things Nigerians get away with on Nigerian roads are serious traffic offences with heavy fines attached, but here everyone claims right by bravado.

Sometimes you realize why politicians behave the way they do...they are simply products of this wicked society but are fortunate to have authority.

Nigerians by default are wicked people....now give a wicked man power and watch him destroy everything around him.

I hope you read the article? Because if I was the one, I would gladly lock them up as well. Too much impunity in this country.

Knowing the unnecessarily aggressive Nigerian drivers, the PRO goofed by letting them off easily. A week in jail would have been more appropriate.

Why must they get to the police station before allowing their brains to be re- set?

Why must they wait for a whole 15 minutes before Adejobi' s arrival? A whole 15 minutes of causing traffic gridlock.

Would they not have reversed if the driver of the vehicle in the opposing direction had been a young milliary officer young enough to be their youngest sibling?

Will reversing their car for a minute and ensuring free movement for everyone had taken anything away from their ego?

Will bringing the issue now to Nairaland make the magistrate to part them on the back?

Nigerians, you are all the same.

But why would they turn off their car in the first place?
This is common with some Nigerian drivers.
In the midst of a traffic snarl and disagreement with other drivers, they just turn off their engines and deliberately block traffic from both sides and dare anyone to do their worse.
Now they are trying to blackmail the PRO.
It's an arrestable offence.
To show their foo lishness, when they later knew who he is and were begged by the DPO to apologize, they hurriedly did.Why didn't they stand on asserting that they hadn't done anything wrong and would be ready to go to court?

Na God catch the three friends. If the PRO na just a civilian this is how the three friends would have oppressed the other driver and other road users.

I drive in Europe and 99.99% times this kind of situation happends both driver are at the same time willing to give way or reverse for the other driver and with a friendly jesture of thank you with smiles

In a more civilized country, they would still end up in jail, but here we attach sentiments to everything we do. How do you park your car in the middle of the road and turn off your ignition because of a disagreement, considering the way the country is at the moment, with all this insecurity?

Sue him in his personal capacity for breach of FHR. I don’t think he is protected by Section 3 of the Public Officers Protection Act.

Thank you for even seeing the other side of the story .

I am happy that the PRO held his ground......the way educated and uneducated; commercial and private cars a t behind the steering is wild and crazy it deserves a lot of enforcement. A lot more people need to go before the courts to have half sense.

Good one PRO.

I think the three friends are one of those that will park their car on the road and be doing strong head while others will be begging them to leave the road. Now they met their match and they are playing victim. How will u stop on the road and wind up the glass probably started listening to music? Now u want to play the victim because an officer took u to court? And u want us to side u? Serves them right.

They could even go on to say they were planning to leave the car there on the road and come back the next day!

Before a senior police officer could ordered your arrest on traffic issue then you must have done something wrong.

This is not about car documents where we will say its bribery issue.

Its only in Nigeria driver will block the road and dare anyone to do whatever so young man say the truth what you have done that warranted your arrest.
