Enugu State Youth Farmers, Igbo Etiti Chapter pays a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman, Igbo Etiti Local Government

Upon the return of the 1st and 2nd batches of ex-trainees of the Enugu State Youth Farmers from CSS Global Intergrated Farm LTD, Keffi, Nassarwa State, the promising, determined and vision-oriented Youth Farmers under the aegis of Enugu State Youth Farmers Association, Igbo-Etiti Chapter (also known as CSS Alumini Association, Igbo-Etiti Chapter) deemed it fit to pay a solidarity/thank you visit to the Capacity and Digital Mayor, Hon Ikenna Nwodo (Omenuko), the Executive Chairman, Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area at the council headquarters, Ogbede.

In his opening remarks, the leader of the group, Rex Buchi Akwolu introduced the group and opened the floor for introduction as members took turns to introduce themselves.
After the introduction, Rex Akwolu extolled the leadership qualities of the council Chairman whom he described as the Youth O'clock, Digital and Capacity Mayor of the time.

Recall that the promising young ex-trainees were amongst the beneficiaries of the agricultural skill development programme sponsored recently by the administration of the amiable and peace-loving Governor of Enugu State, Rt Hon Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Gburu Gburu).

Rex Akwolu made the council boss to understand that the members of the Youth Farmers cut across the four development centers in Igbo-Etiti LGA. He assured the council boss of the group's maximum and relentless support to his innovative and idea-oriented government. Also in his remarks, the group's leader condemned the ugly impeachment move instituted against the government of Hon. Nwodo and assured him that not only the entire Youth Farmers from Igbo-Etiti but also the entire Youths and good people of Igbo-Etiti are solidly behind his government. Rex Akwolu also assured Hon. Nwodo of the readiness of Igbo Etiti Youth Farmers to working with his government to improve the Agricultural Sector of the Local Government so as to increase food production, reduce unemployment and insecurity which is on a high rate in our society today.

Rex Akwolu further intimated the council boss of the kind of intensive training that the members of the group were exposed to, stating that the Young farmers are both physically and spiritually fortified during the training program. He outlined various value chains such as production and processing of livestock and crops such as Rice, Maize, Fish, Poultry, Ruminant fattening etc. The group leader equally narrated to the council boss that members of the youth farmers were also exposed to the use of modern technologies such as GreenHouse and Hydroponics in Agricultural practice. He confided to the council boss that the group are now better informed and equipped knowledge-wise. Rex Akwolu concluded by appealing to the council boss for empowerment to enable the ex-trainees replicate what they learnt in the training.

In his response, the council boss, Hon. Nwodo commended the trained Youth Farmers for coming to thank and intimate him of thier acquired skills at the CSS Global Intergrated Farm. He expressed with a great dismay the level of Poverty in the land particularly in Igbo Etiti. He assured that his government had already mapped out strategies to reduce poverty to the barest minimum in the local government. Hon. Nwodo also stated that his administration has attracted the presence of UNICEF and ENRUWASA to provide portable drinking water across all the communities in Igbo Etiti LGA as well as rehabilitate moribund boreholes. He however pledged to encourage Agricultural Revolution in the Local Government. Hon. Nwodo however directed the Youth Farmers to interface with the council's Supervisor for Agriculture to design a programme whereby his government will come in to boost Agricultural productivity in Igbo-Etiti LGA.
