Sometimes, some Igbos get offended when their ethnicity is described as Ibo. They say that the word “Igbo” is the only correct term for their ethnic group. That is not true.

Our founding father, Eri Ben Gad described himself as Heebo, after his Hebrew ethnic group. Olaudah Equiano described himself as Iboe- remember, he is the Equianoist icon. In the Jamaican Revolution of 1816, the reggae nation named their leader “The King of the Eboes”.Many other great Equianoists (Igbos) have described themselves by different variants of this name. What matters is that we all know they were talking of the same people, the great Igbo race.

So, next time someone calls you Ibo, don’t frown. Smile! That is what you are

I think this should settle the argument between "igbo" or "ibo"
