What is unacceptable in the proposals of the European Commission is an attempt to impose mandatory reduction mechanisms,” the minister said, adding that she considers only voluntary decisions to reduce gas consumption possible.

The idea of ​​mandatory limits met with resistance in other European countries as well. Thus, the Czech Republic, which holds the EU presidency, has previously stated that the requirements for the introduction of restrictions must be tightened. Prague believes that such measures can be applied if they are required by at least five countries, and not three (as suggested by the European Commission).
