The new Barcelona President and his board of directors have done pretty well...

They revamp the old salary structure and put in place the new one, while boldly telling players to reduce their bogus wages..and the ones that can't be accommodated were shipped out.

Messi was a casualty of this initiative, just that they didn't come plain to him.

By the time he completes the PDG contract, he will be 35years old..and he will have to accept this new wage structure to come back to Barcelona.

Ronaldo cannot be separated from his team's level - which is 6th. His 18 goals cannot erase the current fact that he is an Europa-tier striker. James Beattie in 2003 scored a whopping 23 goals for Southampton but still ended up mid-table. Yet Beattie could not hold a candle up to Raul who scored only 16 goals to win the liga title same season. It's simple: that season Beattie was a mid-table striker (23 goals regardless) while Raul was an elite title winning player, like Messi.
