Yoruba Youths honours Omotade with Youth Ambassador Award in the North East Area


The Yoruba Youth Council, (YYC) an umbrella body for all youths in the South West, Nigeria; including Yoruba speaking areas in Kwara, Kogi and diaspora; recently honoured Director, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) North East Area, Omotade Ayodele Folorunso, with “Youth Ambassador Award”.

Omotade had been informed in March by YYC about his nomination for this honour but has just been honored due to his personal principles and quiet disposition to public adulation; while carrying out his duties as a public officer.

Speaking during the conferment of the award in the North East Area Headquarters in Bauchi, the National President, Comrade Ayodele Gbologe, said they had to embark on a distant journey from Abuja to Bauchi to confer this award, because all officials and members of the youth council hold the Director in a very high esteem.

Gbologe said that YYC have followed Omotade’s career trajectory and positive disposition to youths generally regardless of their tribe, religion and social status.

He enumerated Omotade’s facilitation of many policies in the NYSC such as the enrollment of corps members in NHIS, participation in INEC duties among others that have improved on them welfare of corps members.


“We have to come all the way when we learned of your posting out of Abuja and to inform you that youths are indeed appreciative of your contributions to their growth , welfare and national development.

"Even though, we represent the YYC, the general feelings among the youths nationwide is that you have done well for them”, Gbologe said.

In his acceptance speech, Omotade expressed surprise at YYC trailing him to Bauchi when he thought he had escaped from receiving the award.

He thanked the YYC for the honour and for appreciating his modest contributions to nation building.

He said the award would spur him to more hardwork and quality services to humanity.

Omotade had received many commendation letters, notable youth related awards from Northern Youth Council of Nigeria, (NYCN) Nigerian Youth Awareness for Good Governance Initiative, (NYAGGI).

Others are National Association of Delta State Students, (NADETSU) Worldwide, Issele-Uku Development Union, (IDU)Delta State, Nigerian Christian Corpers’ Fellowship, (NCCF) Muslim Corpers’ Association of Nigeria, (MCAN) and National Association of Catholic Corpers, (NACC)
