Very intriguing! The most intriguing part is that Naira has lost its value (depreciated) by 40% in just one year. Thats serious. There is a very high chance that Innoson would get judgement on this matter. What will happen to the variance between Innoson`s 40% depreciation claim and NBS much lesser figures?

This is exactly why government cannot attract investment into the economy, both local and foreign. it has next to zero credibility. Why order for what you cannot afford.

We really need to up our game particularly the judiciary and other institutions or arbitration or else the economy will become a wasteland. No nation can generate the kind of resources needed to develop rapidly on its own and we urgently require investment as a cheaper alternative to credit to move us forward.

This is discouraging.

This is very sad why we do ourselves like this?
A debt that Imo can easily settle even if it means offering land and tax breaks to Innosson as part of the settlement deal, it has allowed to escalate to court.

Very disappointed in Imo government.

This is one of the main reasons most local manufacturing companies don't survive in Nigeria. For example, do you think it's possible for Elizade, one of the sole importers of Toyota vehicles, to give Imo State Government cars on credit? Never! When it comes to local manufacturers, they do this kind of thing.

That said, Innosson Motors needs to review its processes; it should be a 70% cash payment upfront. They are known for suing their business partners and may lose prospective partners if such a trend continues. Their legal battle with GTB is still fresh in my memory.
It's not a matter of processes ,it's a simple case of bad market.
Elizade won't give you credit because there are thousands of people that are standing behind you to buy their product and pay cash,so why should they give you credit?
But innosson's case is that of "if imo doesn't buy,who else will"?
So they tend to bend and dance to the tune of anyone who show any interest in their vehicles.
Simple.

Innoson should look into other model of business. They are going to ruin his business with debt.
Maybe he should concentrate on retail customers, cash and carry.
He could also diversify into utility vehicles, that way he would be dealing with companies with assets . Just in case they default.

Another thing he could is to strengthen his credit management system. Employ people with experience in risk evaluation.
Bolded is very smart,
Okada,keke,Pick ups(especially single cabin which is hot cake for traders),vans ,5-20 tonne trucks and trailer.These are vehicles for people with money who have genuine need for them(to probably generate more money).
He will get better market share here than producing commuter vehicles for a broke market that can't afford them.
He can't just be employing people up and down for a business that is barely surviving.
