APC Hijack's INEC In Lagos by FreedomfromtheT: 12:17pm On Jul 30, 2022
Following the announcement by Nigeria's Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that the deadline for voter registration for the 2023 elections is 31st July, 2022, a lot of Nigerians who were yet to register decided to utilize this window to register. Due to the huge number of people beseeching INEC offices especially across Lagos State, it was learnt that INEC decided to bring the registration closer to the people in the neighborhoods. Anytime information spreads that INEC officials are in a particular nearby location, some willing voters usually troop there to register. I was told by one of the APC members that it was the APC being the ruling party in Lagos that influenced such decision. What the party has been doing is to gather names of it's members, supporters and loyalists and send to the INEC officials who are of course paid to register those on the list as a matter of priority. I personally discovered that INEC officers were moving from place to place according to the instructions of their paymasters. I discovered that names of APC loyalists, especially Yoruba Muslims were top on the priority of INEC officials. Once the APC members discover that most of the people willing to register in a particular area were non Yorubas especially Igbos, the INEC officials would register a few, promise to come back the following day only to move over to another location. By the time people get to hear of their presence in the new location, the people who are so passionate to vote next February would move to the new venue. People spend hours waiting to be attended to but to no avail yet they refuse to give up. Then the APC and INEC officials game continues. People are being deliberately disenfranchised and frustrated. I learnt that this is what has been happening in Igbo (or Christian) dominated areas across Lagos. From every indication, the APC in Lagos wants the overwhelming majority of registrants for the next year's presidential election to be their trusted supporters. They are obviously afraid that if all willing voters are registered and vote, the APC might lose Lagos or just win slightly. Is APC jittery? Is the party and it's candidate desperate? Has the INDEPENDENT National Eelctoral Commission (that is purportedly independent in its name), been bought over or hijacked by the ruling party in Lagos? The electorate are partly to be blamed. We have this attitude of "there is still time", "I will register later". Even if INEC decides to shift the deadline to August ending, some people would still relax. But I am using this medium to plead with INEC to kindly extend the registration deadline to August 31st, 2022 so that more eligible voters can be exercise their franchise. I also ask for more registration centres as well as machines to be made available to reduce overcrowding and congestion of registration venues. Some people need the voters' cards for other purposes apart from voting. Thanks and God bless you.

It's stupidity there is nothing they can do with this new electoral law .. there is little room for manipulation .....

They just want to eat tinubu money nothing can be done its almost impossible ...

To rig you must have 95% support in a polling units and there are very very few polling units like that in Lagos for tinubu ...and yet you are limited by number of accredited voters

Normally they change results at local government collation centers but now that's impossible ...results go straight from polling unit to server

It is written. Tinubu and atiku can never be president of Nigeria.
Such wickedness from the ruling party

Yorubas should caution Tinupoo before he creates a real ethnic war between the Igbo and the Yoruba in Lagos State. Tinupoo is not Lagos and Lagos is not Tinupoo. Igbos and Yorubas have existed and lived in relative peace in Lagos for centuries. This misguided political jobber should not be allowed to cause tension and strife between the two groups because of his ever vaulting ambitions. From the get go, Tinupoo has caliberated his campaign in a way that it looks like a war against the igbos.

His rhetorics, the total absence of any significant Igbo presence in his campaign, his desperation to relegate the Igbo to the background and the fact that his support base is littered with all sorts of utterly uncouth riffraffs brimming with an overdose of ethnic hate against igbos should worry. Matured thinking heads in the west should step in and stop this loose Cannon called Hushcobar Tinupoo from turning his wayward political ambitions into a generational confrontation between the treacherous West and the resilient east..

You have a valid point. But who are those to cast votes before you have results? Is it not from the accredited voters who must have registered for the polls? If in a polling booth of 1000 rregistered voters, APC supporters are 700 and the rest are 300 and 600 out of the APC supporters vote, while the rest of the perhaps 250 voters that turn up have their votes shared between PDP and Labour party, which party wins? If that happens across Lagos, the APC would then have a 'victory' by wide margin, not because the party is popular but because a lot of people who would have voted otherwise were frustrated from registering. Is that not rigging in itself?

The Igbos and the Yorubas have had a long lasting cordial relationship spanning decades. We have been intermarrying. For instance, my sisters are married to Yoruba husbands and my wife is a Yoruba as well. A lot of Igbos have Yoruba friends from primary, secondary and tertiary institutions and vice versa. Many of us worship in the suame churches. No desperate politician will succeed in instigating a war between the Yorubas against the Igbos. We are wiser now.

The same thing I saw at the inec office in ibadan yesterday, the compound was so filled with massive people of over 1000 waiting to register/transfer and as at 3pm they've not even settled 200 people in the crowd. Voters registration needs to be extended to August 31st cos if registration closes tomorrow alot of people willing to vote won't be able to vote in the upcoming elections

It's like you are ok with the hijacking of the electoral body by the ruling party in Lagos. Are you a lover of fraud and injustice?
