“It is probably from the marketers, but of course, "I will talk to the authorities to ensure that they actually regulate the price".

Who then are the authorities if a Minister isn't? Na wao...

Confused lots lipsrsealed

He isn't confused.

The price increase is to makeup for skyrocketing distribution cost. Those tankers used for ferrying petrol are reliant on very expensive diesel.

1.And that's why we cannot, and have not had home based refining.

2.So long as subsidy remains, it won;t be profitable to refine fuel above N400 (may be as high as N600) per liter, and sell it below N200

3.That is the main reason why we do not have refineries. SUBSIDY.

4. If one wants refineries to work, then the subsidy, and by extension the free government money....has to go. NNPC would then be forced to work for every kobo it makes...meaning that refineries would work properly, and we could even export.

Subsidy has to go. APC making the decision not to remove it is bad economics.

Splitmind:
Everyone should stop blaming the government for everything. It is not like they have control over petrol prices.

We should do our part as citizens to find solutions instead of protesting and complaining.

Government is still controlling prices of petrol...otherwise fuel prices would have long since passed the N400 mark..if not N700.

Subsidy as a word has really suffered in the hands of petroleum ministry in Nigeria. How many times would will remove and re-remove and apply for over-removal of this same subsidy.

It's not Today. From contaminated fuel story to full blown scarcity and now subsidy removal show, it has been gradually building until now. So, whoever wins in 2023 election will start struggling in addition to the trillions as debts borrowed. Okay ooo, their is God oo! There is a government, indeed.
