Hmm, what do we make of this? Could this be true or a blatant lie? Well lets not rush to conclusions for now.
Lets watch and see things unfold by itself. But hey, there could be some truth somewhere, who knows,
But why did this guy name only two DEAD PEOPLE? Is he afraid of naming others or he is just trying to find way out of jail?
Well all i can say is this, if you are saying the whole truth may God save you like he did to Mandela, but if you are lying may you rot in jail.

We get to heaven we shall al check whether they are there. Wait until You hear full detail. It better you guys shut your mouths and not push him to give more names cos if he does you guys would not have the face to walk the streets of this banana republic. The SW own the media here so for the first time in this long saga El - Mustapha will be labelled mad. It's like the Norwagian Terrorist who is adressed with a more dignified name of " killer" or "gunman".
Let El- Mustapha spill the beans before they poison him.

@ pafuri,i think it's much convenient to say unsubstantiated evil allegations against Bola Ige and his Funsho daughter (author of 'He Gave me Wings) simply cos your value could validate and justify running people down. The Yoruba say 'abanije eniyan ti on ba eniyan je kiri, ojo ti o ba ti pinu lati b'anije,ni a o ba oje o.)If you run people down, you will be run down as well!Law of Karma!
Bola Ige's children are not only well trained, they are above board in conduct, character and yoruba omoluabi. They are good children, successful yet humble and private!
That al-Mustapha could not mention at least ONE LIVING YORUBA LEADER to have benefited from the Abdulsalami's largesse is a fundamental flaw in public domain, the most of Yoruba(I was at a pressstand this evening) view him to be a fool and paid agent of the northern oligarchy who robbed and killed our MKO.sADLY,HE IS IN TROUBLE!He would be sued by the children of these people he alleged wrongly.
very soon,he will tell the whole world that it was HERBERT MACAULAY that collected the money. He should stop deluding himself, the document was a decoy by the corrupt Abdulsalami to siphon money, the money never left Aso Rock,Abdulsalami and his gang probably shared the money! EFCC should arrest and prosecute Abdulsalami and the CBN officials at that time  to get to the root of the stolen money.

N37bn bribery allegation: Al-Mustapha tears Yoruba leaders apart

Posted at 03/08/2011 08:40 AM | Updated at 03/08/2011 08:40 AM

FORMER aide of late head of state, Gen. Sani Abacha, Maj. Hamza Al-Mustapha has accused Yoruba elders of receiving N37bn bribe from the Federal Government to douse tension in the South-West over the death of Chief MKO Abiola in 1998.

By Sulaimon Alamutu

THE camp of Yoruba elders has been thrown into disarray following allegations by former Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the late head of state, Gen. Sani Abacha, Maj. Hamza Al-Mustapha, that they were bribed by the Federal Government to the tune of N37 billion to douse tension in the South-West over the death of Chief MKO Abiola in 1998.

While some notable personalities in the South West have accused Al-Mustapha of blackmailing the leaders of the Yoruba and asked him to mention names, others said the allegations should be investigated.

They also did not rule out the possibility of some of them having benefitted from what they called “blood money.”

Al-Mustapha alleged, on Monday, August 1, in his defence in the murder charge preferred against him over the June 4, 1996 assassination of Abiola’s wife, Kudirat Abiola, at the Lagos High Court, Igbosere, that $200 million, £75 million and N200 million (totalling N37 billion as at 1998) were withdrawn from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) at the instance of the Federal Government, to appease South West leaders and douse the tension that arose following the death of Abiola in detention.

Speaking with The Moment, founder of O’odua Peoples’ Congress (OPC), Chief Frederick Fasehun, said the allegation was a great indictment on Yoruba leaders. He called on the Federal Government to institute a panel of inquiry to investigate the matter. Fasehun said until the allegation is proved otherwise, he would believe Al-Mustapha’s submission in court.

“I believe it. Nigeria is a very corrupt nation and corruption is a major factor of our nation. I will not dispute it until it has been proved otherwise,” he said.

However, Chief Olu Falae, a chieftain of Afenifere, a pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, and former presidential candidate of the All Peoples Party, now the All Nigeria Peoples Party, denounced Al-Mustapha’s allegation, describing it as “absolute nonsense.”

“You know that cannot be true. Some of us cannot be bribed. We are ‘unbribeable.’ With what will they bribe us? All the money in the Central Bank cannot bribe me alone.

“Some people might have taken money from them, but surely those of us who are in the leadership of Afenifere and NADECO (National Democratic Coalition) are unbribeable. We didn’t keep quiet then. I was in detention for two years, was that how to keep quiet?

“My house was the meeting ground for NADECO leaders, apart from Ndubuisi Kanu’s house, and we fought them until they locked up Papa Adesanya, Papa Ayo Adebanjo. They drove General Akinrinade, Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi, Bola Tinubu and others into exile, and they arrested me and detained me for 20 months, so was that how to keep quiet? That’s absolute nonsense!

“If he gave bribe, he should tell the nation the names of the people to whom he gave the bribe, so that we can know the true leaders from the fake leaders,” Falae said.

The former NADECO leader, who described Al-Mustapha as a “small boy,” said the government could go ahead to institute an investigative panel but noted that as far as he was concerned, “I am sure nobody in my immediate circle of leaders could be part of such bribe-taking. I am absolutely sure.

“If the government wants to set up an investigative panel to unravel those who took the bribe, they should please do so. The earlier, the better,” he said.

Also speaking with The Moment, another NADECO leader, Chief Ayo Opadokun, said Al-Mustapha should be implored to mention the names of those involved in the bribery allegation. Opadokun was in detention alongside other Yoruba leaders like late Chief Abraham Adesanya and Alhaji Ganiyu Daodu over the death of Kudirat Abiola.

“My own reaction is simple. We should implore Al-Mustapha to name the people who collected the money, because I was one of the victims. I was in detention when they were doing all these things. It was myself, Papa Adesanya, Onasanya, Alhaji Daodu that were said to have killed Kudirat Abiola (and) put in detention. So, we couldn’t know who was getting what.

“Mustapha has done very well to say those things. But let him mention those who they gave money. It is only he and (former head of state, Gen. Abubakar) Abdulsalami who can tell us the truth. Those of us who were victims do not know the fact. You can also contact Abdulsalami to tell us his own side of the story,” he said.

Opadokun said there might be an iota of truth in Al-Mustapha’s allegation, since they (the military) were the ones in charge; they were in a better position to know.
“He was the one in charge. There is no doubt about that. That’s why I say he should go the whole hog. I don’t doubt him at all; only that he should not give us a blanket accusation.

“If he does not name the names, those of us who are innocent will be suspected, we will all be under suspicion. He should be kind, courageous and truthful enough to name names, those who benefitted from the blood money,” he said.

Chairman, Yoruba Elders’ Council, Gen. Adeyinka Adebayo, said those in the inner circle of government were in the best position to tell Nigerians the truth of what happened, declaring that “the only person that can refute the statement is Gen. Abdulsalami.

“We were victims. I was locked up for months with others. Al-Mustapha should mention the names. It will be a great in- justice on us if he does not mention the names of those involved.”

Speaking in the same vein, Yinka Odumakin, former spokesperson of the Afenifere Renewal Group, described Al- Mustapha as a “blackmailer.”
“For the past three years, Al-Mustapha has been blackmailing Yoruba leaders. Who are these Yoruba leaders? Let him mention them! He can’t be putting every Yoruba leader under suspicion. He is a blackmailer! He cannot continue to blackmail the entire leadership. Let him own up. I don’t believe what he said. He should be ignored,” Odumakin said.

“Let him give us the facts, because it is a major indictment, a major allegation, which requires more than giving a court evidence to prove it.
“We should wait for the freedom of Al-Mustapha, which I believe should be sooner than later, because I think he has spent too much time on that case,” he said.

Babatope also kicked against the idea of instituting an investigative panel, noting that the evidence Al-Mustapha gave in court was not enough to be used for such matters.

“We need to sit down and see the full facts of the matter and the Federal Government can then investigate the matter. But as it is now, it is a total prejudice investigating what was said in court under cross-examination,” Babatope said.
