Keyamo: Like APC, Labour Party Does Not Understand The Scale of Nigeria's problems — Daniel Faithful Miebaka

Festus Keyamo(SAN) the Minister of state for Labour and Employment made renditions about the ongoing Nationwide strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) that has grounded academic activities for millions of Nigerian Youths.

Keyamo as always tried to make brilliant arguments to exonerate the ruling APC and throw the blame on ASUU. The crux of the issue was the outrageous 1.3trillion demand of ASUU, Keyamo said the government could not be held by the jugular to borrow. But in 2015, they campaigned and promised to end such strikes permanently.

In a television interview with TVC News President Buhari while reacting to a question on whether he would work on the resolutions of the National CONFAB, said he had not yet read the report and had reservations because students were at home while 7 billion Naira was voted for the conference, rather than being used to pay ASUU.

Nigerians should recall that in 2013, ASUU embarked on strike, and His Excellency, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan intervened and offered 100 Billion Naira, this sum was rejected by the academic staff union, and later increased to 200 Billion. This was done at a time the budget of the year had no provision for such, it was agreed that 200 Billion would be paid subsequently and the backlog cleared in 5 years.

How the APC swindled Nigerians to believe they had a solution betrays the messiah syndrome many persons are hooked on. But in the face of all that happened, ASUU refused to make any progress till they confirmed that the money had been paid. It was Doyin Okupe, who is currently the DG of the Labour Party Presidential candidate that confirmed the payment on National Television.

What surprises some of us who have been critical of Nigerian politics is the fact that Buhari and the APC did not follow these events. To imagine that 7 Billion that was voted for a needed National Conference would mean anything to the same body that rejected 100 Billion.

The Labour Party Candidate has also made such illogical claims, insinuating that the forms for elections could have been used to pay ASUU. Why the statement is an insult to the intelligence of well thinking Nigerians is because this same candidate purchased two Presidential forms in the space of a few weeks. Secondly, how do you compare monies spent by private citizens to money demanded for by a body of the Federal Government? Lastly, it would take 13000 persons to have bought APC Presidential forms at 100 Million each for 1.3 trillion to be realized, what utopia does this exist? The dream "paradise" Obi is selling without a plan?

When you examine how the APC-led government has handled ASUU, one sees the poor appreciation of the scale of the problem before it emerged. For context; in 2018, 2019, and 2020, FG paid 20, 25, and 92.7 billion naira respectively. The combination of this payment is dwarfed by what the PDP-led administration had done in one year.

Again, both the ruling party and other opposition parties like the Labour Party have mastered the art of defrauding Nigerians by making promises they cannot keep in exchange for their votes.

On the 25th of July, the LP candidate sat with Vanguard, and his solution to end the strike was a dialogue with ASUU, Keyamo has said they were discussing even before the strike was called. The problem is simply money! This dialogue without paying people owed is political wickedness. It is the same reason the ASUU strike in the South East while Obi was a governor lingered for months.

When the PDP-led administration proposed an end to subsidy, enemies of the country went on the streets in 2012 to fight it. They grounded the nation economically. Even when Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala informed the Nation that as much as 1 trillion could be saved if we stopped the wastage. The records are accessible, any Nigerian could see the persons who took to the streets to protest. The pump price of 137 naira with no subsidy wastage, today it is more and we still pay subsidies.

We have the Labour Party playing the same tricks, few years after APC successfully repackaged the same person who crippled the refineries while in the military in 1977. These facts are verifiable, in 2019, Mr. Baru the former GMD of NNPC said the turn-around maintenance allocation for refineries stopped 42 years ago. Between 1976-1979, Buhari was the federal commissioner on petroleum resources.

Today, Labour Party is projecting a candidate that harps on about production, not consumption, when he operates a sole importation license for household consumables like corned beef, beer, Ovaltine, etc. Products he procures with foreign exchange, putting worse pressure on our Naira. Are these the persons Nigerians are hoping to be their Messiah? Are we not tired of being defrauded every election cycle?

Why will Peter Obi make statements when industrial actions are being discussed, would he not be humble enough to take the backseat when he knows that during his time as Governor of Anambra state, doctors went on strike for 13months and when they called it off it was because the Governor was unyielding and people were suffering. Obi's idea of saving is for workers to make sacrifices and take pay cuts to free more funds for savings in Banks he had major interest shares in. These are facts that even he has made known on National Television, you can only feel sympathy for his blindsided supporters who should know better. We are not surprised though, because tens of millions supported Buhari both in 2015 and 2019.

However, we want Nigerians to know the truth; just like the APC, the Labour Party has no plans or understanding of the scale of Nigeria's problem.

Every day, with every news report on the Labour Party Presidential Candidate, it’s seen that he is either making one false claim or blatantly lying. His Vice Presidential Candidate is no different, when asked about security his response was "we do have a solution, my good friend just take it like that". 'No plans just vibes!' They keep using propaganda and disseminating false claims of endorsements from Sanusi Lamido, Tom Hanks, Ogbonnaya Onu, and Charles Soludo. Just recently, their official party handle took pictures of a rally in Kenya to suggest it was their one million march in Nassarawa state. If this is not fraud in open daylight, I wonder what it is?

Atiku has put forward his plan, he has made his position known in several interviews, and has documented the same. The problem for ASUU is finance, increase the budgetary allocation to education.

Some candidates say they went on a tour to power plants in Egypt, the Egypt story on Power transformation is available online, and it says privatization was the answer, Atiku is saying the same thing, make the prices transparent and you have your solution. You have no business doing visits to site engineers, any secondary school student can go on an excursion, but it does not translate to real change if you do not learn anything. Obi sat with Seun of Channels Television and for 4 minutes 33 seconds, he failed to mention one practical step he would solve the power problem. Just rambles about his visit to Egypt, and how it could be done. He said, "we can do it". Once again, no plans, just vibes.

Nigerians have to decide and come in their numbers to vote for the PDP and the candidate, Atiku Abubakar, who is the most prepared candidate in the forthcoming elections. One cannot propose to solve a problem they do not understand fully.

Dr. Daniel Faithful Miebaka is the National Publicity Secretary of Doctors For Atiku-Okowa 2023 Group.

Peter Obi is the least qualified among the three leading candidates.

All he knows how to do is talk and dish out useless statistics.

The only thing he has said so far is turning Nigeria from a consuming country to a producing country, which is a general, vague statement.

I honestly don't care about the economy of Nigeria or something like that.

The one thing I need is my security. Let me not live in fear of the unknown. Even if Nigeria slides into the worse recession, it's none of my business. I go survive one way or the other. The only reason why people are talking bad about this government is because of the iinsecurity. We all know that this country can never ever get better. Looting will continue for as long as Nigeria remains a country.

Obi was asked how he will tackle insecurity and he couldn't say anything reasonable.
Any simple question he's asked, he starts bringing our useless figures.

That man de vex me sef

Rubbish.

Dem go skin and roast you alive just wait...

How dare you....? grin

This is blasphemous...

Even the Atiku you are busy marketing is probably the least qualified to make any difference with the current reality.
