http://www.independentngonline.com/DailyIndependent/Article.aspx?id=38285 Yoruba community commends Yuguda By Patience Ogbodo, Special Correspondent, Bauchi Yoruba Community Council, comprising 19 northern state chapters, has commended Bauchi State Governor, Isa Yuguda, for appointing one of their sons, Ishola Michael Adeyemi, as his Chief Press Secretary. It described the appointment as a way of fostering unity in the country. The council in a letter of solidarity addressed to the governor in Bauchi stated; “What you have done by the appointment has demonstrated that you are a detribalised Nigerian who is only committed to the promotion of the unity we have in our diversity.” According to the letter signed by its President General, Alhaji Abdul Ganiyu Oguntoyinbo, “Your action has further shown that your philosophy is that of one Nigeria irrespective of tribes, religion, political and geographical differences worthy of emulation by others in the position of authority in Nigeria.” It also prayed that God will give the governor wisdom, strength and good health required to steer the ship of Bauchi State to safety at the end of his second tenure. On the recent gesture extended to the families of the 10 slain Youth Corps members during the post-election violence, the Council commended the governor for the positive steps taken, saying, “We are impressed by your recent announcement to emulate the step of the President to further assist the bereaved families; it was a decision that has further shown you as a good and caring father who cares for the welfare of all his children.” It then assured the governor of the loyalty and support of all Yoruba people in Bauchi State. According to it, “We cannot forget this honour done to us as tribe, we will stick to you at all times and ensure that your administration succeeded in all its efforts at developing the state better.” 1 Like |

"The council in a letter of solidarity addressed to the governor in Bauchi stated; “What you have done by the appointment has demonstrated that you are a detribalised Nigerian who is only committed to the promotion of the unity we have in our diversity.”" What the Governor did was just normal and there was no need for the Yoruba group to write him any commendation letter for appointing a Nigerian to serve Bauchi state of Nigeria. It is the politicians who came to inflame ethnic problems ( flames being fanned by Nairalanders) Bauchi state since its creation always had all nigerians in its employment at all levels. The Director of pharmacy services in Bauchi Pharm. Ifeanyi went to Bauchi for NYSC about 1980 an like many othrs decided to take appointment and rose through the ranks to be the Director of pharmaceutical services for the state and nobody saw that as unusual. The one time head of service in Bauchi was Mr. Tenebe and some say he was Igbo others said he was Yoruba but no body cared , he was a Nigerian. He worked until his retirement. There are examples too numerous to mention and nobody wrote letters to commend anybody. This Yoruba council or whatever should shut up ; we dont want their hypocracy. |

badesco: I won't be deceived by this Greek gift, Nigerians are quick to forget once they're appeased. Leopard cannot change it's spots Yuguda deserves no commendation let him first apologise for his insensitive comment on riots that resulted in deaths of many corpers may be we can then start to take him serious. |

Ileke-IdI: Igbos should be warned about ACN feild an Igbo Candidate in 2015 i.e Ngige. This will split Igbo votes and interest not only in the east but through out Nigeria. Ohaneeze and Igbo gov forum should field/ support only one igbo candidate for Presidency in 2015. |

nagoma: Thank you Mr Nagoma. I dont know what to think about this commendation letter other than the writers are jobless. At one time the chief justice of the then Gongola state was a yoruba man. Several judges and Directors were Igbos, Yoruba and Igala. Perm Secs from Plateau and Benue were not uncommon. Even in Adamawa State there are Directors not from the state and nobody is raised any fuss. I think this action by this group shows how divided Nigeria has become and some are clapping?! |

Let me help you guys clear some misconsecption. Bauchi state has been known to accomodates more non-indigines in government circus. The governor himself(a non-indigine) suffers a alot of criticism and attacks from his political opponents. Do you know the reason why he was expelled from PDP during the governorship primaries? Because his indigines letter was FAKE. But due to the fact that he was a public figure and a two term serving minister with Bauchi state slots, he was accomodated in ANPP, though no one knew he was going to win. That said. His wife Abiodun, a yoruba woman has been commanding respect to the extent that Bauchi became a mecca for political SWtern jobbers. Facts!!! She own an NGO by the name CYDI(you can google it). With so much influence that you have to be annoited by her to become a commissioner in the state. So dont be surprise if you read more SWners holding political positions in the state. . |
Re: A Yoruba Is Chief Press Secretary In Bauchi State by tpia5: 7:27pm On Aug 04, 2011 |
so, where is the governor from if he's a non-indigene. |
Re: A Yoruba Is Chief Press Secretary In Bauchi State by grabdbull: 7:31pm On Aug 04, 2011 |
What kind of topic is this? Why do people create threads for irrelevant things? Have we created one for the appointment of non-indigenes in Kano, Lagos, or Borno? Special assistant positions have been doled out to non-indigenes ever since the return of democracy, and nobody has made a fuss about this. I believe people should be more focused on how those in power meet their obligations to the populace, and not on the appointment of politicians from ethnic groups into the government. This is soooo ridiculous. |
Re: A Yoruba Is Chief Press Secretary In Bauchi State by Rhino5dm: 7:39pm On Aug 04, 2011 |
The governors father is a fulani herdsman from cameroun. That is why he was claiming Adamawa state(defunt Gongola state) when they enrolled him in primary school at Jos. But later on, after they settle in a remote village in Gombe area(former Bauchi state), he claimed Dukku LGA. So when Bauchi state was seperated from Gombe in 1996, he refused going to Gombe and obtained a new indgine cert of Bauchi state. His first appointment letter at NAL merchant still have Gombe on it., before he switched to Inland bank and rose to its MD. |

The governor is trying to save face cos of his nonsensical comments on the youth coppers' deaths. Its all political strategy. @Rhino, Nice info. I've been studying the history of the north nowadays as a past time. I've never been to the north but would love to explore the place which is almost impossible considering the anti-southerners sentiment especially the high anti-ndiigbo sentiment up there. Its a pity that southern Nigerians are not safe in some certain parts of the country especially the north. And we call it a country. SMH. |
