Hypocrisy Of Southern Presidency.

Published By Newsline09

The false and deceptive claim by a few power players that the Presidency must come to the South after the tenure of the incumbent, President Muhammadu Buhari, who hails from Kastina State in Northwest Nigeria, has dominated the political discourse in most of Southern Nigeria ahead of the 2023 Presidential elections. Perhaps these few power players predicated their case on equity and fairness, despite the fact that they were pursuing their own selfish objectives and aggrandizements.

The Southern President has become a farce and a deceptive political anthem for these few. The South West, on the other hand, is not relenting in their deception in order to manipulate other Southern blocs to gratify their appetite for power. I dare to argue that "Southern President" has become a bankrupt political slogan from which the South Easterners must free themselves while the South West perishes in their greed, shortsightedness, political doom, betrayal, treachery, and intellectual dishonesty, if it will be to the glory and pleasure of an 86-year-old desperado living in Bourdillon, whose only motivation for clamoring for power rotation to the South lies in his claims of Emi Lo Kan.

Perhaps the Southern President currently supported by a few southern governors and self-ascribed stakeholders, just like the recent Chimaroke Nnamani, Governor Akeredolu, and former Governor Fayose, just to mention a few, reeks of hypocrisy and repulsive propaganda; undoubtedly, it is a banal stereotype.

If the South insists on fairness and equity in the clamor for a Southern President, then the South West must withdraw from the race and declare support for the South East; otherwise, it will be an insult to have said it in the first place.

Olusegun Obasanjo and Professor Oluyemi Osibanjo have served as President and Vice President, respectively, for sixteen years, while the South East hasn't smelled the lofty office of the President since the return to Democratic rule in 1999. Yet we are led and urged to accept the Southern President, which will only serve the interests of greedy neighbors who have refused others a stint in power.

Self-described power rotation activists have recently propagated the myth that Muhammadu Buhari cannot be replaced by a Fulani president, such as People's Democratic Party presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar. If the Igbos are to run for president soon, we must dispel this harmful misconception while avoiding the bias caused by those who want to keep power for themselves and not share it with other Southern blocs.

Politics has evolved into a serious business and a power struggle. Our people must learn to play by the rules of politics, which are our minds rather than our hearts and unfettered emotions, which, if not checked, will lead us to political servitude.

Instead of focusing on the hypocrisy of a few minority groups that have vowed never to see an Igbo become president, our demand should be based on what is best for our collective interests. Ndi Igbo would have more to gain with the Atiku Abubakar Presidency than a Tinubu and South West hullabaloo in 2023.

The South East must not be manipulated by the deceptive chants of the Southern President, which are to our own relegation to the bottom of politics and aimed at actualizing the life-long ambition of an octogenarian, thereby gifting the South West another eight years while the East has yet to enjoy any.

However, we must not pass up the opportunity to correct our 2015 mistakes, rebuild a new alliance, have handshakes across the bridges, and retain the trust that would see the North support the Igbo Presidency after an Atiku Abubakar.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the only candidate from the South running for president in 2023. I declare this with confidence. The South West is more conscious of how Peter Obi's egotistical behavior helps the Tinubu Presidency at the expense of the Igbos.

Ndi Igbo must free themselves from the hypocrisy of the Southern President, which has become a hoax with Tinubu and the South West, and queue behind Atiku Abubakar in order to make room for an Igbo President. Peter Obi is merely a stand-in for Ahmed Bola Tinubu's presidency, as his future grandstanding will continue to put the South East in political jeopardy and self-destruct.

Ndi must be clever and not allow emotions to call the shots for us in 2023.
