This certainly is not the solution. They will increase it and increase every other thing Nigerians pay for therefore defeating the purpose of the increase. The NLC should demand a reduction in all the allowances and benefits payable to politicians. This will free up money to be used in helping the dying economy out of the self-induced destruct mode the same politicians plunged it into but will they ever do this?
Imagine those sons of devils called governors recommending things that will further plunge the suffering and smiling masses into poverty while clearly leaving out the political class from making any concessions is that not wickedness?

So they want to even increase the inflation further.
Why not be a worker for the federal republic of Nigeria with no pay, at least the fg can loot your salary into their pockets.

I'm surprised a union is asking for 50% increase instead of trying to get the 22% passed ....then building on that. Even more surprising.... shouldn't they be pressing for back salaries to be paid? ... and all.salaries to be paid on time?

Imagine governors want to reduce retirement age to 50, but they are supporting old and tired men above 70 who forged certificates to become president. One is an alleged drug baron while the other is in court to determine if he’s truly a Nigerian. It’s only a mad person that will vote for APC again after the horror Buhari made us pass through.
Aluta continua. The concern is that,if the salaries of worker's are increase, there would be increasing in the prices of essential commodities, the law of economics. These men in the pedestal of power should think through the Masses do suffer.

Is NLC alive since all these while? I honestly thought it's dead, don't know it still has live but have only been sleeping like overfed pig. Going by inflation rate, that amount iis condemned workers to slavery. Recently, some opportunists came up with 30 points list what they expect FG to do to navigate through this economy hardship. Once particular interesting thing is that instead of them to suggest a reduction in silly cost of governance which chop off not less than 25% of our annual budget, they instead want ordinary poor civil servants to be retired at 50years of age?! A idle hand at that time is a very experienced and powerful hand tools of devil. NLC must make this a fight to finish and should make sure that salary payments is a function of Price Index, this is the only way the FG will not continue to enslave people.

All this unions just want to hold the country hostage for political reasons, first ASUU president telling people to vote out APC whilst the students are the ones suffering, the government has tried to meet their demands but they want the government to do the impossible. I see Obi romance with them responsible for this actions. Whilst you blame the federal government don't forget the political undertone. We are all In this together, know who you support. So what happens after this post covid problems pass . Are they going to ask for a reduction in wages or we live with the inflation in the next administration and forever .

Misplaced priority. Rather, Labour should insist on good governance to enhance productivity so inflation can drop.

though it tempting to believe that salary increase will do wonders to the workforce, by the reason of rapid increase in prices of goods and services, but it's a fallacy, because without addressing the root cause of the price increase, inflation may still swallow the salary increase.
why can't the NLC agitate for an end to official corruption in government ?
why can't NLC agitate for the building of new refineries, and an end to the importation of pms ?
why can't NLC agitate for an end to medical tourism by government officials ?
why can't NLC agitate for a free and compulsory education, to every Nigerian citizens ?
why can't NLC agitate for a workers friendly government, by taking over the government through their support of labour party in 2023 elections ?
it's time NLC think beyond salary increase and agitate for a workable social system.

You hit the nail on the head; except that compulsory free but quality education should stop at Secondary school! University education is not free anywhere in the world!!!
Until we get those things you listed right, selective wage increase will do more damage to Nigeria than any good!!!

Not only in the history of Nigeria but the history of the world that no doubt this APC government is the most insensitive, choking and inhuman government to it's people

All they care is how to still remain in power

God forbid APC in 2023

Won't this lead to more inflation? As in, prices of things will increase more because traders and business owners will believe government has released more fund to people

Mehn, economic policies can be very confusing atimes
But the price continue to increase, without increase in salary.

It's very difficult and even not feasible for NLC to demand for reduction in allowances of politician, that's why they usually resorted to increase in their salaries.
