Russian president Vladimir Putin attended the opening ceremony of the international security conference, Army 2022, in Moscow on Monday.

Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu claimed Russia has “no need” to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine, instead stating Russia's nuclear weapons are mainly for deterrence.

Putin accused the U.S of provoking conflict and global instability in order to retain its global hegemony, citing “aggressive military-political alliances” (such as AUKUS in the Asia-Pacific) as well as Nancy Pelosi’s visit to the Taiwan island as an attempt to “destabilize and sow chaos in the region and the world."

Putin stated Russia is ready to offer modern weapons to its allies in Africa, Asia and Latin America in the security conference.
