If the presidential candidate dies before election date, the second runner is expected to take over ( Competent party should be able to hide the News of the Death till after the Election if they are not happy with the second runner), , but if the candidate dies during or after the election then the vice can take over.

On this sensitive issue INEC respect party decision


The options available

1. Second runner up

2. Vice candidate

3. Fresh primary


Any of the options above the party wish for if the candidate dies during or after the election, INEC will adopt it, using Kogi State as case study .
