All is set for the establishment of Urology and Kidney Transplant facility by Ahmadu Bello University at its teaching hospital in Shika, Zaria, as the institution has taken delivery of the second consignment of the essential equipment for installation.

A statement from the Public Affairs Directorate, Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, dated Thursday, August 18, 2022, said that the first and second consignments of the medical equipment were delivered to the university in two months and that the last consignment will soon be delivered.

Some of the medical items delivered to the University for the establishment of the medical facility include C-Arm X-Ray system, operating table, electric suction machine, anaesthesia machine, and virgor patient monitor. Others are lend vest (radiation protector), apron hanger and uretheroscope flexible (video).
The supply of the medical equipment is part of TETFund’s N1billion Special Intervention for the establishment of Urology and Kidney Transplant Unit in Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika, Zaria.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kabiru Bala inspected the items supplied and expressed the University’s immense gratitude to TETFund and other key partners in the project.
Prof. Bala, who was accompanied on the visit to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital to inspect the medical equipment by Director, Public Affairs Directorate, Auwalu Umar and Ag. Chief Security Officer of the University, Mal. Ashiru T. Zango, disclosed that a site has already been identified for the project.

He was received on arrival by the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee, ABUTH, Prof. Ahmad Bello; Dan, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, Prof. M.M. Dauda; Dean, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Prof. A.M. Musa; and Head, Department of Clinical Pharmacy, Dr. M.A. Zayyad.
Others on ground to receive the Vice-Chancellor were Acting Director, Physical Planning and Municipal Services (PPMS), Arc. Suleiman Mohammed and Arc. Waziri Ibrahim of the PPMS.

Why is this news making it sound like Nigeria is backward. We have many private and some govt hospitals that have these equipment since and carryout successful operations but that never stopped medical tourism. Trust me, Nigeria needs deep healing and deliverance.
We have a trust issue , discipline and poor attitude to work.
No be say we no get schools in Nigeria but O can tell you many Nigerians are going to schools abroad from primary level to university level spending big money. Nigeria needs fixing
