Yes, I may have exaggerated d figure a bit, but I am sure it is close to that sir About the education part, the minimum qualification needed to work in a loan shark company is ND, I know this because I once work with one of them back in d days What I am trying to tell you is most youths working with them are university graduates . For better job, it may interest you that most youths working there are actually working remotely, while doing other jobs. With a salary of up to 100k monthly. I know. A lot of people that were able to use this to gain a better life.. Male and female What I am trying to say in a nutshell is, these people are employing lots of youths mostly Lagos where good jobs are scarce and some other parts of the country Govt should regulate their operations and fine those caught wanting instead of killing the business totally.. That's just common sense na LZAA: |

Yoighaman:Bastards wey dey evade tax too. You know how the Nigerian system is, you know the poverty and unemployment rate, you know how desperate Nigerians can be, yet your solution is to offer them loan with short time to repay and crazy interest rate and you expect it to end well?, lol. Anyone who has a high credit score to secure over 200k from these loan apps should sit down and calculate how much you've paid back as interest, you will cry. 2 Likes |

Ok, lemme let you in a little secret The companies frown totally on defamation , threats, use of documents to threaten customers, I know a lot of my colleagues back then that were sack for that when they were caught But here is the thing, every worker is assign a particular number of customers weekly to recover loans from and everyone is in competition to lead. The higher money you recover from debtors the higher your bonuses and take home salary that month.. (100k-150k) This is not adding the basic salary for that month So you see, it's a dog race, everyone want to take home a big cut, so they do this without the knowledge of the company most times About contacting relatives, that was part of the agreement customers sign and gave consent to. They just didn't read the terms of agreement . So company can contact relative and inform of unpaid loan after attempt to get debtors to pay mhiztaNexy: |

King125007: Loan shark apologist spotted. The industry is already regulated. It's your loan shark overlords who have deliberately refused to comply. Are you aware that these loan sharks do not pay tax? Are you aware that they trap people in debt slavery and are breaking usury laws? The humongous profits they make is why they can afford to employ every man and his dog for their illegal activities. So government should allow fly by the night operators to bring in criminal money from Chinese Triads (organised crime) because one unemployed graduate wants to get 75k monthly to be insulting people. Can any of these so called graduates put this job on their CV? Can any of them proudly say they work for Soko Lending? That's how dirty the job is and so the entire sector should be tossed into the thrash. 3 Likes 1 Share |

ocelot2006: Do you know what usury laws are? Do you know what unenforceable contracts are? I will provide some education here. You are not allowed as a money lender to charge above defined rates. I have forgotten the exact figure for Lagos State but it is around 50% per year. These loan sharks charge that amount per week. On the issue of contracts and terms and conditions, their terms and conditions are illegal ab initio and as such they cannot argue on the basis of it. It's like saying because a borrower signs a contract that you can take his kidney if he fails to pay, that you can go ahead to take it. Organ harvesting is illegal and as such, that contract is illegal and unenforceable. Loan sharks share personal information with third parties, infringe on the privacy of people who didn't take loans (this is an offence under the cybercrime act and under NITDA regulations), and shame and threaten people (also an offence under defamation laws in the criminal code). That they claim they informed customers in their terms and conditions is immaterial as those terms and conditions are illegal. 9 Likes 2 Shares |

ocelot2006: It is against Nigeria's privacy laws to contact someone without the person's consent on and on. And no, his contact may not have signed for it. Many people take these loans with fake contacts. A lot of people get these messages and don't even know the people that are being shamed. 1 Like |

Well I don't doubt you o When i used to work in one of those company, back then, that 30k was our basic salary- by basic I mean if you just wake-up and go to the office daily nd sit down without doing anything at all, you will still be paid that basic.. Not joking But if u manage to work small your minimum should be 50k+, 70-80k then if you're among top 10-top 20, then you should e taking home 120-150k.. Well she may be right it all depends on the loan company, there are so many of them right now, but some are really still paying well and you can work remotely and at the office Working remotely start from covid-19 locked down I know a frd (graduate ) working there that used this to open a big photography studio and bought all d equipment.. Juoflife1: The society does not need loan sharks. In the UK, the rule of thumb is that borrowers are not required to pay back lenders who break usury laws. You can go to the UK Fair Lending Site for more details. These lenders are illegal, do not pay tax and operate with criminal money. Consequently, they do not deserve to get paid back. Besides, they have already made billions. People claim Nigerians to pay back loans, how come Soko Lending kept expanding till they had 8 apps? How come the total number of Chinese Lending apps in Nigeria got to over 100? 2 Likes 1 Share |

King125007:Remember the aftermath of the Endsars protests? When Nigerians get fed up and decide to take laws into their hands by tracking down these agents to their doorsteps and offices and give them a taste of their own pills, you people claiming that loan sharks are employing graduates would still come out to cry foul. Everytime I hear that argument about loan sharks employing Nigerian graduates, it always sounds like "Boko Haram or bandits are employing Nigerian youths" Employed to do what?.. Sabotage our economy? Blackmail people emotionally? Kill people with high blood pressure? Oh please! 3 Likes 1 Share |

The society does not need loan sharks, yet the people borrow from loan sharks. Why can't the society just walk into the bank and get a loan? If people don't patronize loan sharks, they will be out of business and die naturally. When they sign up for the loan, they don't realize the loan sharks break usury laws till it's time to pay back How do you know they have made billions? Are you their accountant? A Nigerian will borrow money and intentionally refuse to pay back. A person who borrows from another should pay back, simple. No dey support bad thing. The borrower assented to the interest rates einsteine: 1 Like |

I’m not holding brief for the Shylocks and their crude loan recovery methods and tactics but I think it’s ridiculous that you’re trying to absolve the defaulters and bad debtors here. |

You have no point. The person wasn't forced to take the loan. And the duration to pay back was well spelt out which was agreed to. So why defaulting. pacesetting: |

King125007:about contacting relatives, that's if you put them down as your guarantor. About staffs overdoing, why don't the proprietor allow issues like that to the reported if they are really serious and against it? Like report any number threatening you or report when you receive defamation to appropriate contacts provided (it's traceable since individuals assigned will account for it). To the NIGERIANS ARE BAD DEBTORS "YEN YEN YEN" people, what do you expect from a failed system and economy? Developed countries have good credit systems and how they recover loans. Not organisations milking desperate people and expecting to end well. USA president just released over 20billion dollars forgivable loans to its citizen recently because they know how the economy is right now. "You agreed to the conditions" lol, who won't agree when they are desperate. If anyone defames you, you'll be foolish cow to pay back if they don't show you where it was in the agreement to reach people apart from your guarantors. If they don't defame, try and pay back little by little till you sort it all but very calculative not to pay the stupid accrued interest over time. If any uses "God will judge you or God will punish you", don't fret! God is against owo ele (loan with interest). You are not a debtor but an experimental meat trying to survive against all odds. BUT DON'T GO AROUND OWING/BORROWING WHAT YOU KNOW YOU WON'T PAY BACK OR ELSE GOD AND THE UNIVERSE WILL PUNISH YOU DEARLY FOR IT. AND IF YOU ARE A LOAN AGENT/RECOVERY AGENT, YOU ARE READING THIS AND YOU ALSO ENGAGE IN DEFAMATION AND HARRASMENT WHICH HAVE LED TO SOME PEOPLE'S DEATH, PUT THEM INTO TROUBLES, MAY ALL THE CURSES IN THE BIBLE AND QURAN FOLLOW YOU TILL YOUR FOURTH GENERATION. 4 Likes 1 Share |
