CLAPPING OF HANDS IN WORSHIP; IS IT DOCTRINAL OR NOT.

An Exegesis on "Clapping as A form Of Worship".

Just read carefully.

INTRODUCTION:

There are six Biblical references on the subject of Handclaps in the Old Testament.(Job 27:23; Lam. 2:15; Ps. 47:1; 98:8; Is. 55:12). However, of the six passages, two different meanings are used.

While Job 27:23 and Lam 2:15 use the word Caphaq(saphaq), the rest use the word taqa (taw-ka).

MEANING OF THE WORDS CAPHAQ AND TAQA

Caphaq (pronounced saw-fak')
or saphaq (1 Kings 20:10; Job 27:23; Isaiah 2:6) {saw-fak'}; a primitive root; to clap the hands (in token of compact, derision, grief, indignation, or punishment); by implication of satisfaction, to be enough; by implication of excess, to vomit:--clap, smite, strike, suffice, wallow (Strong's definition)

Saw-fak was a handclap used as a mockery on God

Job 27:23 MEN SHALL CLAP THEIR HANDS AT HIM, and shall hiss him out of his place.

Again, this word was used in chapter 34. It came as a form of rebellion and mockery against God

What has all this to do with Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God? undecided

Did Jesus Christ ask any of His followers to do anything exactly as those of the Old Covenant folks did anything? undecided

Did He ask you to praise Him or worship Him in much the same way as God had commanded the people of Old to? undecided

Why pretend to be of the Kingdom of God yet continuing to invoke laws and rules that instead apply only to those who are of the Kingdom of Canaan? Do you have no confidence at all in whom Jesus Christ is and His Law to you in the Kingdom of God? undecided
