I mean, the lady was sitting there in his front and he drew her!

Those that are into realistic pencil portrait drawing knows the time it takes to create one image.


My question is, what is the name or word that can be used to describe this type of drawing where you sketch someone right there and then.


Additional resources would be helpful.

It's live drawing or art, though i am not an artist - there is a man here in kaduna that draws people (20 minutes is ok for him) for a small fee, even if you give him 200 naira. He is really good at it

Can you ask him the technique used?

Probably a phrase I can search on Google and get what I need ...

As the person above pointed out, it is life drawing.

This is my opinion:
~ He has at least 10 years of practice and good understanding of shadow and shading (that is why he s now fast).
~ It is graphite pencil. He use those brushes and eraser to BLEND the graphite particles to have that smoothness (some of those pencil looking things are eraser for blending).
~ Na practice and dedication (not acquired overnight)

If you have time, there are many lessons from pros on YouTube. Start with Zin lim and Fine Art Academy YouTube Channels, watch and learn from observation.
