Stop begging them. Nigerian universities are some of the cheapest in the world. Some doctors don't even spend up to $20k all through their years in medical school. Meanwhile, that's what many schools spend per annum in the US and other Western countries.

You just have to use bonds to keep them here. If you go through public schools and enjoy government-subsidized education, you should be ready to work in Nigeria for 7 years or more or you pay the government $10k per year for 10 years wherever you are in the world or you will be declared wanted. However, the government needs to improve their pay, tools and working conditions here.

You kind of right though, medical school in the US, Uk etc doesn't come up cheap funny enough you have to get a science degree first.

Next time, walk into an anatomy laboratory and count the number of students attached to a cadaver, or you go to the wards and see the conditions. When my late father was hospitalized several years back, I went to donate blood and was shocked that the lab scientists were given a pair of gloves each for a whole day's work. I was there with many would-be donors and half were declared unfit to donate due to HIV or Hep B/Hep C. But you give the workers there 1 set of gloves to work a whole day with all kinds of clean and dirty blood samples.

Is that the kind of environment you want doctors, nurses and lab scientists to work in?
The guy you quoted isn't very smart
Nigeria has one of the cheapest education, what he doesn't understand is that we get our money's worth of education.
He should go round and see the learning conditions of medical students in Nigeria compared to that of foreign students.

Foolish mentality. If your export is services, export more. If your doctors and nurses are so world class that everyone wants them, why not train more? Universities should admit more, train more, graduate more and export more doctors and nurses. We have millions of youngsters looking for admission into these very same courses... Build more schools to accommodate them. Employ more lecturers to train them and when they are done, set them free. When they settle down and do well in diaspora, they will remember home and in their own capacity, contribute to the country's development. We have so much human potential that we are not harnessing. Its not only goods that can be exported... Services can too but our government will not focus on this sector because there is no direct returns into their pockets. What a wicked lot. Enemies of progress.

I think the FG should impose a 5 -7years ban on all health graduates from playing thier services abroad...

They shld sends the. Circular of the. Ban to all nation's. That if a graduates ayeas of gradaution from a Nigerian federal government and state government skl doesn't show over 5-7 years after graduating.. they musnt be employed.. lest thier will b a bilateral fracas btw the. Two countries...

The health ppl are too selfish.. they go to sskl on free tuition and next day they jet out to giv services to nation's who wouldn't allow u skl thier at a moderate cost if u want to b a health practitioner...

This is my take!

If any of them listened it's because they are considering other factors not because they now believe FG is worth listening to.

Stop comparing Nigeria with those countries, research on factors responsible for universities recognition globally and why those tuition fees are as high as that.

So says a guy who is also praying to God for an opportunity to relocate abroad to escape Nigeria frustration.

Any Nigerian wishing someone to remain in this wretched country in which inflation, joblessness and government ineptitude has demoralised everybody is a wicked person.

100% increase in salary is not enough for someone who would earn minimum of £25k per annum in a working society.

Also tell Buhari, tinubu and politcians not to go to abroad for medical treatment and medical check-up...let them go to the government hospital in nigeria to receive medical treatment....this is how the hospital and the health sector be better and developed
Re: FG Begs Doctors, Nurses To Remain In Nigeria by ufotunang: 12:30pm On Aug 23, 2022
Pay the doctors and nurses well, better job welfare, pay them hazard allowance, a condusive better working hospital environment, hospital installed with medical equipments and facilities, infrastructures, medical drugs...then with this the doctors and nurses will not Japa and go to abroad

grin grin grin After talking as a politician, you finally state the fact at the bolded. Ask yourself how many times US president comes to Nigeria for medical care. Not to even mention the standard of education paid for over there compare to what you have in Nigeria. Nigerians are generally fleeing the country irrespective of their professions. Lately, the banking sector was lamenting I.T staff attrition. People are liquidating their businesses & assets to relocate. The country is without a direction or at least heading towards the stone age.
