You are right. But big brands like Nike, Adidas etc prefer Countries like Bangladesh, China, Thailand, Vietnam etc....Cheap labor.
Do you know that, doing business in Nigeria is kinda expensive? Poor electricity etc. Most foreign investors would rather go to south Africa
As a matter of fact, most of those products are made in those countries.

Add Indonesia. And you’re right. Inadequate electricity supply has been Nigeria’s biggest drawback for years. And frankly, it is shameful! If Nigeria had gotten her priorities right, by now a lot of international coys would be jostling to have a presence here considering Nigeria has a huge population.

Oga pls just shut your mouth....the average price of any shoe or sneakers at this store will be at least 150k.. how many Nigerians can actually afford that?
Millions of Nigerians will still buy made in ABA like they have done in the past, and be rest assured that those that will be patronizing this store, are those that have always patronized foreign products...even if this store was not opened in Nigeria, they will still order online. Or buy from high end boutiques across the country... U can't force everyone to buy made in Nigeria products only, it's not done anywhere in the world...buy what u can afford simple!!

You really do need to sound impolite before making a statement. Thanks.

This is a very stupid development in Nigeria.
Instead of selling Nigerian shoes globally, we're still patronising whiteman shoes.
White man that is already richer than the whole nigeria.
We carry all our money and give him.
But to give our own people that same money, na issue.
Actually, the Nike is not for everyone, only those that can afford it.How many people can afford a footwear of over $100?
Aba na my saviour. angry

This not a nice development I must say.
Our locally made footwears products which a number of people are still patronizing might have less patronage now since Nike has now officially opened their store here in Nigeria.
I actually don't know why people keep saying Nice development, nice development...Okay, employment opportunities might abound there but our locally made footwears will now have less patronage than before.
Way to go, Nigeria.

It’s a nice Development!

What has been stopping any of our Aba shoe factories from being proud of what they do and opening branded stores likes…

I hope they would wake up now…

Actually it is an opportunity. A lot of windows for their designs to be made by a very strong and reputable company with a vast customer base accross all demographic all over the world. if perhaps some of them meets the Nike general standards with their designs, Nike can produce, market and distribute globally for them or at least signing a local contract with them. Yeezy designed, Nike Produced and Marketed. Both winners. Let alone, Sport Jerseys, Gym and Work out clothes, shoes, Slippers etc, this is an avalanche of opportunity for those talented Nigerian Artist, athletes as well as the entertainment industry. I think it is good development. And further opens way for other reputable brands partnering with Nigeria fashion Industry. My take

olodo read what you wrote before what does politics have to do with Nike coming to Nigeria cos you are jumping now and insulting your generation Nike will do what is best for them which is Lagos where they can get more sale and customer and speaking of patronage if you can't afford it doesn't mean another person can't afford that is why it is called luxury good it is not for all
