The foreword of the Nigerian Chess Book in Hausa, Igbo, & Yoruba Languages was penned by the Convener of Chess in Slums, Africa. "He got a Rook of Honour at the cover of the Book; Castling is only meant for the King."

FOREWORD
NIGERIAN CHESS BOOK IN HAUSA, IGBO, AND YORUBA LANGUAGES

The negligible communities could provide the rarest talents and human gifts to the metaverse. This claim is best depicted in the popular board game known as Chess; where the least important piece (the Pawn) could grow into being an essential piece (the Queen). Chess is a game of infinite possibilities and probabilities, it is a spectrum where impossibilities are mere fiction and opportunities become the order of the day, or should I say, board.

The ‘Nigerian Chess Book in Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba Languages’ is a book that aims to propagate the gospel of Chess beyond the major tribal borders in our country. The Author understands the power Chess wields in making children become whatever they want to be, hereafter, he is using this multilingual book as an inclusive medium whereby children from different parts of Nigeria do not need to learn English language before they could master the art and act of Chess playing (in their native dialects).

As a person who has witnessed the firsthand power of Chess in changing lives positively, using my own life as a good example, I advise you readers, to trust and believe in the wealth of Chess knowledge available in this piece of literary work - the good thing being that everything you need to know about Chess is available in your native dialect; which is also the best tool to use if you plan to reach out to indigent children who have been marginalized and disenfranchised - to show them the world of great possibilities and ambitions that can take flight from a small chessboard.

Tunde Onakoya,
Convener, Chess in Slums, Africa
