That rent seeker made his money from scuttling the corridors of power like a rat that he is.

Every factory, plant he has under his portfolio was gifted to him free of charge reminiscent to how Jew rats got hold of Soviet corporations on a dime and will later become the oligarchs that plagued Russia during the disastrous Yeltsin years until Boss Putin arrived and chased them out to London, New York and Hellaviv. Today the richest demograph in London are these Jewish oligarchs.

Dangote refinery was built from scratch with full govt subsidy be it in special subsidized forex access where he had a special forex window that saw him paying far less than the average Joe to how the govt has waived import duties, taxes on equipments and machinery for his refinery. Even Lagos State govt subsidized the land allocation to him and he paid next to nothing for it.

Normally you idiots will say there is nothing wrong in govt granting Dangote subsidies but know that Dangote has personally seen to the blocking of licences to other potential investors in the downstream sector including that of modular refineries.

Dangote not only benefited from an unfair playing field with govt subsidy but he has also worked tirelessly to block investments in building refineries by other investors.

Dangote is a monopolist and from every indication the govt owned refineries are not working despite huge amounts invested in their turn around because Dangote wants only his refinery to operate in Nigeria.

He sited his refinery in Lagos for a variety of reasons but one major reason was to take over the west African market while getting crude at a highly lower rate than the prevailing market price.

Any sane govt that comes in place should nationalize the Dangote factory.

Any sane government should also nationalize your private property and businesses.

We had 4 nationalised refineries...and they didn't do well.

The thing is, if you run an economy where everything is nationalised, you are attacking the right of people to make a profit. At the end of the day, no one is going to want to sell or make anything since their profit would be cut ......

You would end up with what happened in many communist countries....long queues for products that were utterly scarce.

Dangote needs to make a profit because he is not just competiting in Nigeria...he is competiting against the world. And as such, if his refinery is nationalised...there would be no profit to keep it running well (because you people would insist the price of fuel and diesel should be heavily subsidised...limiting the profits)...and workers would promptly emigrate to countries where they would be paid fat salaries.

Plus, we don't make the parts and machinery we need to keep the refinery running at home...we make them abroad. Thus, the refinery must make a profit to pay for upgrades, parts and machinery(which all have to be imported) well well. If it cannot do that, it would break down...which is one of the main reasons why we don't have working refineries today.(We subsidised all the products from our refineries from 1973-2013 when GEJ forcefully ended subsides on kerosene and diesel...a wise decision, otherwise we would have been paying all our budget for subsides by now.)

I see where you are going, and you have good intentions. But at the end of the day, people, including you and me, want to make money. Take their right to make money away, and you end up with long queues for things like bread, oil, potatoes...even garri. If I cannot earn a profit preparing garri or growing cassava, why should I keep on doing so?

Unless you have a secret formula to stop people from wanting to make money...your plan is dead on arrival.

P.S Soviet companies went belly up because they were all run as nationalised projects....and as such they were weak when they were exposed to the outside world. By the 1980's there was scarcity in the Soviet lands because there is a limit to how you can run corporations without the profit motive. If Comrade Yusupov gets a handshake and a medal from the secretary general after ten years of increasing productivity at the State Machine Corp, while his counterpart in Germany or the USA, or Japan gets a raise, and a big car, and a nice house, to add on top of the yearly raises they get for doing the same thing...ya think the good comrade would keep productive? That's why companies like Robotnik...East Germany's leading computer maker...could not compete against Western companies once the wall came down. Years of lack of incentives for workers that involved profit.

Meanwhile, companies in Japan, and South Korea had to compete against Western companies...and became better and better. It is a lesson the Chinese are learning well too.

Lol How many refineries did we have as a country? And we ran them all to the ground, Now you suggesting we nationalize Dangote refinery, which is probably our last hope... And also run it to the ground?

We should be talking about how to hand over more and more establishments that are currently under Federal government to private parties.

Our government is obviously clumsy and incompetent! Period.
