The Minister of State for Education, Goodluck Nanah Opiah blamed Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU, over the impasse between the union and federal government.

While expressing dismay over the six months old Strike, Opiah said Federal Government has done what is required to resolve every outstanding issues but, ASUU refused to call off the strike.

The Minister who was on a visit to Federal University of Lokoja reiterated federal government resolve to implement no work no pay policy. He further said that the government can not pay ASUU for works not done, while adding that the lingering Strike has parents and Students immeasurable harm.

He further added that federal government has done a lot of infrastructural development in all the higher institution in the country. He equally ask Nigerians to disregard ASUU’s claim that the reason for the strike is due to infrastructural decay.

He finally appealed to the Vice Chancellor of federal university of Lokoja, Prof.Olayemi Akinwunmi to ask the Lecturers to come back to work.
