Details of Wike’s meeting with 17 PDP governorship candidates revealed

Details of the meeting between Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and the Peoples Democratic Party's (17 gubernatorial aspirants) in Port Harcourt on Tuesday night have surfaced.

The discussion, which took place behind closed doors at Wike's rural residence in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, lasted till late at night.

Aside from seeking a solution to the PDP's conflict, the gubernatorial candidates expressed concern about their chances of winning the next elections in their respective states.

Isa Muhammed, the PDP gubernatorial candidate in Kaduna State, who spoke on behalf of other candidates, said they chose to meet Wike after hearing from the party's presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.


"The discussions were good, open and sincere debates, and we are home and dry." We address concerns that are related to the situation within the party, and information on internal matters should not be sought.

"We talked with the presidential candidate, and we're here with our brother and buddy, and matters that are related to what's going on have been resolved."

"As far as I am concerned, the concerns have been settled since we have heard from all sides." And we'll meet with the National Working Committee to make a decision," Muhammed explained.
