DR. ADESEKE HAS BEEN PROVEN INNOCENT OF INCEST BY THE COURT OF LAW

AFamily Court of Ondo State of Nigeria in Akure on the 17th October 2017 has proven the innocence of Dr. Adefolaju Adeseke of the allegation of incest against him by his wife. The Magistrate in the page 10 of the judgment that "It is clear that if not for the fights between the parties in this case, the issue of incest will not arise. If anything at all, parties are advised to shield their swords in the interest of their children. Mrs. Adeseke's role in the whole Saga is rather appalling and discouraging

We have stated that the conclusion in the legal advice is on all fours and we also conclude that the allegation of the incest against the Respondent is totally unproved. This court believes that the yellowish discharged experienced by Adedolapo is as a result of the genetic health issue of Adedolapo. There is no way a child whom an adult had sexual intercourse with will not bleed or have pain coupled with inability to walk. Adedolpo and her siblings all corroborated the fact that there was no stain in Adedolapo's pant, not on her body, not even on the bed and that they all left to play in their cousin's house thereafter same day. I hold that the allegation of incest is unproved.

..We adjure Mrs Adeseke to tread the path of peace for the good of her children henceforth. we dismiss the allegation of incest and also hold that neither the Nigerian Police, Ondo State Command nor Ondo State Ministry of Justice has been biased by their involvement or activity in the whole incest saga. Case of incest against Mr. Adeseke Adefolaju is dismissed in its entirety."

The above is just an excerpt from the judgement delivered by the Court of Law signed by Mrs. O.A. Edwin (Chief Magistrate II)

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) on Wednesday urged the male gender to assist in house chores, for the good of the family.

The Executive Secretary, DSVA, Mrs Lola Vivour-Adeniyi, gave the advice at Katangowa Market, during an advocacy against Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV), tagged: Men Wey Sabi.

Some women have died because they did not cook for their spouses, some women are being victimised because it appears they are not meeting up with the house chores.

Today we are engaging the men; the men will be cooking; men will be cleaning; men will be changing diapers; basically roles that have been specifically ascribed as feminine roles.

What we are saying is that it doesnt make you less a man if you are involved in house chores for the family.

What we are saying is that if you are a man wey sabi, you should be involved because it is in partnership, marriage is partnership, Vivour-Adeniyi said.

She said that the campaign followed the resolve by the state government to rid Lagos of SGBV crimes in its entirety, through enlightenment campaigns and continuous sensitisation plan that cut across different strata of the society.

According to her, it is expedient to change the social construct by breaking gender stereotypes that further heighten directly or indirectly the crime of sexual and gender based violence.

She said that in the last one year from September 2021 to July 2022 there was a record of 4,860 cases of SGBV, with a notice of slight decrease in May and June.

The Babaloja General, Alhaja Abiodun kosoko and Iyaloja General, Mrs Funmilayo Alabi George of Agbado Okeodo LCDA expressed gratitude to the state government for bringing the initiative of the Market Fiesta.

Kosoko said that the problem associated with SGBV was that some people dont want the issue to be exposed, if it happens.

At the Katangowa market campaign, selected male adults performed on-the-spot chores socially ascribed to women, such as diaper changing and cooking.

Winners and other participants went home with various gifts and consolation prizes.

I agree totally with you. A lady friend called me and asked me that her fiance said before they get married they should agree on financial roles. He would pay for food, house rent while she pays for school fees and some other things. She asked me that is it right? I said no, it isn't.

So these modern switching of roles comes with a price definitely.
@lessonotes,

So, you seem very traditional here. Are you saying us men should provide all the finance for family overheads? What are the proper financial roles in the modern world we live in?

I have a different historical perspective here...

For the records, in most African societies back in the day, women were NEVER redundant. Women contributed to the upkeep of the homes as well by bringing something in besides cooking, and giving birth. Roles between men and women were properly
defined.

Have you also heard of the hunter-gatherer societies from further back in human history? Men were the hunters and women were the gatherers of food crops in the wild or small farms. Period.

Nice thread though.
