When Queen Elizabeth II passed away on September 8, 2022, she had four pets.

Candy, the oldest of her pups, is thought to be 13 years old. According to Harper’s Bazaar, Candy is a cross between a corgi and a dachshund, or dorgi.

The Queen told a horse trainer in 2015 that she “didn’t want to leave any little puppy behind,” which was why she wasn’t purposefully expanding her family, according to The Independent.

But in recent years, the Queen has added two additional corgis to her brood. The Queen received Muick, who is named after a location close to Balmoral Castle, one of Elizabeth’s favorite summer getaways, after her husband Prince Philip was hospitalized in 2021.
