DELGA Chairman Bags TSA 'Chairman Of The Year' Award

The Projects-Oriented Chairman of Degema Local Government Area, Hon. Michael John Williams, Sunday, was conferred with the Trendsetters 'Chairman Of The Year' Award for the year 2022, in recognition of his trailblazing achievements in office.

The Council Chairman has received several laurels and awards from various reputable organizations across Nigeria for transforming a once obscure and dysfunctional local government system, where the statutory payment of staff salaries was recorded as an achievement, to a cynosure of sort, where infrastructural projects are littered across all communities of the LGA.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Trendsetters Award, Amb. Gloria Boma Harry, disclosed that the 2022 Edition, which is 4th on the series, recorded over five million votes across various categories, with the 'Chairman Of The Year' category taking a larger chunk of over one million votes.

She stated that the awardees emerged in a transparent process, where voters independently decided the fate of the winners, without any bias, influence or manipulation by either the nominees or the organizers.

Receiving the award, the DELGA Sheriff, Hon. Michael John Williams, who was represented by Hon. Michael Ekineh, dedicated the award to God Almighty for his grace and benevolence, as well as to the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike, for laying the foundation upon which his administration was building on.

Hon. Williams, who also dedicated the award to the good people of Degema LGA, assured that his administration would continue to deliver more democratic dividends to them.

The award, which was conferred to distinguished Rivers indigenes and corporate organizations in various categories for their outstanding contributions towards the overall development of the State, was bestowed on Sir Siminialayi Fubara (Technocrat Of The Year), Hon. Michael John Williams (Chairman Of The Year), Hon. Dumnamene Dekor (Federal Lawmaker Of The Year), Dr. Emi Membere-Otaji (Africa Man Of The Year) and Dr. Ipalibo Harry (Federal Commissioner Of The Year).

Others were; Senator Magnus Abe (Most Consistent Politician Of The Year), Dr. Dawari George (Most Innovative Politician), Prince Tonye Princewill (Most Youth Friendly Politician) Prof. Okey Onuchukwu (Academic Of The Year) and Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (Academic Institution Of The Year).
