Shocker For Teenager As Police Expose Dad As Member Of Robbery Gang by HighChief4(m): 12:51pm On Aug 11, 2011
To the 16-year-old son of Mr. Lucky Olasanya, it was like a drama when police detectives stormed their residence at Bashorun area of Ibadan and arrested his 42-year-old father. When his father was being interrogated, the little Olasanya expected him to vehemently deny allegation that he is a member of an armed robbery gang.

But, to the chagrin of the little boy, his father was unable to provide satisfactory answers to the questions by the detectives.

Realizing the possible culpability of his father, the boy was said to have broken down in tears asking his father why he shielded it from them having lived together for so long.

Even when he was being paraded alongside other armed robbery suspects, the elderly Olasanya was feigning ignorance that he never knew that the man who introduced himself as a car dealer was an armed robber.

Yet, the man had brought no fewer than 10 exotic cars to him for sale. All the cars including jeep and other expensive cars were recovered from his compound where he lives with his wife and three children.

He told Crime Alert that the “car dealer” whose name is Adupe from Owo in Ondo brought all the 10 vehicles to him.

The cars includes; one from Ogun State Government, a Honda Academy, Nissan Quest, Toyota Avensis with Registration number LAGOS LL 973 KJA, Hyundai Santape VL RD 889 KJA ,Honda CRV Jeep, Toyota Corrola and many others. The suspect told Crime Alert that he would not have accepted the cars if he knew they were stolen.

He further said the self-acclaimed car dealer never told him he is an armed robber. However, their illegal deal was blown open when the suspects stole a car belonging to Ogun State Government from a viewing center.

Immediately the car was stolen from where it was parked, the number plate was changed and driven straight to Ibadan. But, the tracking agents later traced the car to Bashorun, the residence of Olasanya.

The police later discovered some number plates from the bush. Besides, all tools used to steal cars were found in the residence. Among the items recovered are master keys, assorted keys, vehicle licenses, number plates and charms.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Moses Onireti said the suspect had confessed that the vehicles were snatched at gun point at different times.

The investigating police officer, Mr. Victor Olaiya said after the car belonging to Ogun State Government was stolen, the number plate OG 04 A45 was removed and hidden in a bush. The owner of a duplex where the suspect lives has relocated to the United States of America.

He stated further that the suspect was arrested last Monday and when his residence was searched, they recovered all the keys to the exotic cars except that of Nissan Quest.

Another armed robbery suspect, Semiu Jimoh also paraded opened up and confessed that he actually committed the crime. He said he had robbed three times before he was caught adding that he went to Oyo town to rob when they were caught in the act.

The suspect also confessed that the leader of the four-man gang whom he called Digo, is at large and that his first operation at Sabo in Oyo town where he got N30.000, was successful.

Though, he confessed that his gang used the gun in his possession several times, he denied ownership claiming that it belonged to the leader of the gang.

On their part, the police said three of the suspects were ex-convicts. The Police boss while narrating how the long arm of the Law caught up with the suspects said, at about 1.30am, on 31 st july,2011, they got a distress call that some robbers were robbing at Sakutu area of Sabo, Oyo and a team of Policemen attached to the strike force was dispatched to the scene.

He said that after a gun duel between the police and the robbers, one of the robbers known as Semiu Jimoh aka White, was arrested with bullet wound on his left leg while others fled.

Cp Onirete said the confession of the arrested suspect led to the arrest of one Olajide Dina and one Kehinde Abiodun who are also members of the gang. Items allegedly recovered from the suspects were; one single barrel cut-to size pistol, two live cartridges, one sword, and one double Sim Nokia phone.

The CP used the forum to warn other criminals in the state to find elsewhere to hibernate as the state would be too hot for them during his tenure.

In another development, the police in the sate said while a patrol team of Moniya Police Station was on duty, they accosted a Toyota Highlander Jeep with registration number NH 61 EKY.

On sighting the policemen, occupants of the car opened fire on them and after a gun battle, the hoodlums abandoned the Jeep and ran into a nearby bush.

It was later discovered that a lecturer from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology was attacked in his residence by six armed men who told him that the sum of N5 million had been paid to them to assassinate him, but due to the fact that he cooperated with them, they would spare his life. But, while leaving their victim, the robbers stole his two cars.

All the suspects, according to the police, would be charged to court very soon.
