The Smoking, inhaling, injecting and other forms of taking hard drugs is not good not only for you as a person, but it is very dangerous and a menace to the whole society.
Hard drugs areĀ  nefarious drugs which can be addictive and capable of causing physical and psychology effects, such as tiredness, dependence, inability to think clearly among others.

The DRUGDEMIC (DRUGS PANDEMIC) which is very popular among the youths is one of the problems facing our society today, as more people are falling into

WHAT ARE THE HARD DRUGS ?

As it has been said in the beginning of this text, "Hard drugs are nefarious drugs which can be addictive and capable of causing physical and psychology effects" and they include alcohol, cocaine, cigarettes, cracks, tobacco, methamphetamines, heroin, cannabis also known as weed, loud, marijuana and locally known as igbo, excessive use of (un) prescribed pain killers and cough syrups etc.

HOW ARE THESE DRUGS BEING USED?

Hard drugs can be used in various forms such as smoking, inhaling, injecting, eating and so on.

WHAT ARE THE EFFECTS OF DRUGDEMIC?

The drug virus which has been enraced deeply into our society today has many effects which I classified into two categories. The first is personal effects and the second is general(society) effects. The personal effects of the DRUGDEMIC "the use of hard drugs" are the effects which is characterized with health issues. The CDC recorded that in 2020 91,799 deaths were caused by drug overdose in the United States and according to a post by vanguard on 27th of June
2020 the use of hard drugs is behind the high rate of suicide in Nigeria. The use of hard drugs can cause various Illnesses such as lungs, heart and kidney diseases, increase in body temperature which can lead to other diseases, psychological Effects such depression, inability to think well, memory loss, insomnia, hallucinating as well as stroke, brain damage and death.
The general (Society) effects of the use of hard drugs are the effects Which are not limited to the users alone but the one which is a threat to everyone in the society. Many innocent people has lost their lives due to THIS DRUGDEMIC, many people died because of the actions of the drug takers in different ways like accident, killing under the influence of drugs and so on.
Furthermore, the use of hard drugs has led to decreased in productivity among the youths because many of them are no more mentally fit to add any value to the society making them useless and a burden to their family and society.
The use of hard drugs is also a big threat to the peace and security of the society, due to this addiction many drug users are willing to do anything for money to buy the drugs when they are out of it and this will trigger them to involve in criminal activities such as arm rubbery, banditry, kidnapping, rituals and others forms of nefarious activities.
DRUGDEMIC also spoils good family names as those who involved in this act of smoking and other forms of drug taking are considered a menace to the society and nobody wants to associate themselves with those who involved in it and their families , infact the xenophobic attack on Nigerians in south Africa was blamed on the same issue of hard drugs. The DRUDEMIC issues has caused Nigerians to be looked down upon by many people around the world.

WHY DO PEOPLE TAKE DRUGS ?

Many people involve in hard drugs for some reasons well known to them. Most people take hard drugs because their brain releases excess dopamine which is called Highness in local palace. This brought about the feeling of happiness and joy but never think of the side effects.
Family upbringing and peer pressure is another reason why people engaged in the use of hard drugs. Many people Inherit the habit from their parents and relatives while some involved themselves in order to boost their ego due to oppressions from peer pressures.
Lastly some people think drugs takes away pains.

HOW DO WE FIGHT THE DRUGDEMIC IN OUR SOCIETIES?
1: Parents/guildiances should educate their kids about the effects of drug abuse.

2 :Subjects/Course that will enlighten the students on the effects of drug abuse should be made compulsory in our institutions.

3: Advertisements/Announcements that educates people about the effects and dangers of drug abuse should be encouraged on our radio stations And televisions.
