The Lagos State Government on Thursday threatened to shut down both Ladipo and Oyingbo markets indefinitely next Thursday over traders’ indiscriminate waste disposal.

The government explained that the move became imperative following the markets’ refusal to pay for waste services, and poor waste management at the markets.

The Lagos State Waste Management Agency’s Managing Director, Ibrahim Odumboni, who made this known said traders in both markets engaged in unwholesome environmental practices.

The unwholesome environmental practices, he said, continued in the markets despite repeated warnings.

“Our attention has been drawn to the deplorable state of the environment around Ladipo Market, Mushin and Oyingbo Market, resulting from reckless waste dumping by traders.

Every time they threaten to close the markets. Who dem dey shalaye for? How is it possible the traders refused to use PSP? I am sure the PSP agents don’t come regularly to the market that’s why there’s indiscriminate dumping of waste. Come to some streets in Lagos and see wastes dumped by the roadside because PSP don’t come regularly to clear them.
Lagos State Government and initial gra-gra

This is perfect, time for action plan to domicile the headquarters of spare parts business in Nnewi,Aba,Abuja, Kaduna,Kano and supply Lagos on interim basis , market demands and request .

Igbos should not make the same mistake made in port harcourt before the civil war. Igbo importers and business should open up business hubs in the 6 geopolitical zones and a centralised HQ in the east, this will put Lagos to rest and stop the unnecessary stress and harassment, hosting and warehousing your goods in Gwagalada Aba, Nnewi, sabon Tasha Will be a fraction of the cost in Lagos

Because you are blind and bewitched. Olodo like you will always forget that Ladipo and Oyingbo markets are owned and more populated by Yorubas. The Igbos and other tribes that you find there are tenants. Even those who own properties there are still tenants one way or another.
