Olumide David Durojaiye is a brilliant auto engineer with KIA Motors, Lagos. While all this started since April, relatives have expended over 4M with no feasible solution. They have been to LUTH over the last few months of July and were admitted into Ward E. The team of neurosurgeons couldn’t give a definite diagnosis for his unstable medical condition despite 2 MRI brain tests carried out by relatives. After he had spent about 3 weeks on admission, he was discharged while he still remained in this poor medical state, and they said he should keep coming as an outpatient for medical proceedings. They kept rescheduling the days of appointments, saying they are yet to meet with the Radiologist to ascertain the nature of his brain irregularities. Relatives had done three different MRI brain tests as of September 15 at a cost of about 85K each. The family had spent over 4 million Naira with no solution. LUTH wasn't helping until the boy went into a deep coma. On Tuesday, he was re-admitted to the Accident and Emergency unit of LUTH. Parents were told to move him to the ICU. When they arrived at the ICU in LUTH, medical professionals said there were no bed spacesRelatives were desperate seeing the fact that the patient may not exceed the next few hours to live and can’t withstand the pain the poor boy was going through in the LUTH A&E department, a security personnel advised the patient’s relative to the nearest private hospital with ICU, (hospital don’t want name mentioned)to their ICU unit, patient’s relatives were charged 350K/daily and they made an advance payment of 1M in cash and transfer.
The neurosurgeon consultant visited and said after revealing MRI, the patient showed in brain a grade IV tumor of glabastomas and told the patient’s relative to process the sum of 5M. He also told the patient relative it’s a 20 percent survival chance with possible permanent neuro deficit, not upto 30 hours. Relatives moved the patient from the (Hospital don’t want name mentioned) ICU to home and the patient is still on a deep comma since yesterday while at home.
Nigerians!!! Please come to this 25-year old boy’s assistance so he can live again. Here are pictures below of patient while in the ICU of one of the private hospital in Surulere before they moved him home yesterday, September 15. He is lying at home on the bed, still in a deep comma. You can contact the mother or father if you wish to grant the patient financial or medical assistance or recommendations.
