Nigeria Is The Bastard Child Of Great Britain! by z07ion: 11:01pm On Sep 16, 2022
Who would have thought that Great Britain – a politically, economically and security-stable nation gave birth to Nigeria 108 years ago?

In all the centuries of the parliamentary system of government in Britain - which has been in existence as far back as 1056 AD, political administration had always been smooth sailing that unlike politics of bitterness, rioting and bloodshed which had been Nigeria’s trade mark from time immemorial!

Some historians had always blamed Nigeria’s consecutive, incongruous, brutish, riotous, uncivilized and bloody political elections on the British Colonial Masters who deliberately handed over the Federal Government at Independence in 1960 to the under-developed and semi-literate Northern Protectorate!

Much as that assertion may be arguable, the British government requited to Nigeria a Parliamentary System of government which was and still is better than the Presidential System which has virtually dominated administration of the nation in 62 years as an independent country!

Parliamentary System of government is cost-effective and masses-friendly due to the participatory opportunities open to citizens from the Wards, Counties, Local Government Areas and up to the Central Government for patriotic service to their country!

Who would have thought that the last few months before September 5, 2022, when the change of baton was concluded between Boris Johnson and Liz Truss, that an election at that topmost hierarchy of government would be so incontroversial rancour-free and very democratic in nature and essence?

DOUBLE CELEBRATION OF ICONIC DEMOCRACY THE BY BRITISH EMPIRE.

It’s double celebration for the United Kingdom which was simultaneously blessed with brand new King and Prime Minister all in the month of September 5th-11th!
The unbroken umbilical cord between the United Kingdom and Nigeria cannot be wished away but will still wax stronger with the ascension to the throne of King Charles III, who is Nigeria-friendly and must now broker a FRESH FILIAL ARRANGEMENT to take the black African country out of its path is SELF-DESTRUCTION!

SHAMELESSLY NIGERIA CANNOT SOLVE IT'S PERENNIAL, POLITICAL, ECONOMIC AND INSECURITY PROBLEMS WITHOUT RUNNING TO LONDON FOR COUNSEL INTERVENTION OR RESOLUTION!

Whenever there occurred any form of internal crisis, dubious Nigerian leaders would jet overseas to seek foreign solutions to resolve local issues or contentions!
And whereas, the seemingly unstoppable spate of criminal calamities forced on innocent Nigerians through terrorism, banditries, kidnappings, arsons, bombings etc, leading to public and institutional insecurity of lives and properties had been rightly traced to endemic CORRUPTION well grounded in the administration of the economy BUT WHICH ARE NON-EXISTENT IN BRITAIN!

Historically Nigeria had been a Commonwealth Colony since the year 1861 but it was not until after the 1914 Amalgamation of the Colony and Protectorate of Southern Nigeria and the Protectorate of Northern Nigeria that formal government by the British began to take shape and political administration formalized.

Within a space of 39 years of servitude to the Colonial masters, (1914-1953) political awareness among stakeholders of the Colony of Nigeria began to gain momentum and the need for actualizing an Independent State through dialogue and peaceful conversations dominated the center stage among local politicians.

As fruitful official conversations progressed both in London and Lagos, names of delegates slated to attend the October 1953 London Constitutional Conference comprising of representatives of the various political genres; (Action Group (AG), National Council for Nigeria and the Cameroons (NCNC), Northern Elements Progressive Union (NEPU), Nation of Cameroons and National Independence Party (NIP), accompanied by Delegates were forwarded well in advance to the British Government to facilitate all necessary preparations.

EXTRACTS FROM THE UK PARLIAMENT HANSARD ON THE LONDON AND LAGOS CONFERENCE ON THE NIGERIAN CONSTITUTION, 21ST OCTOBER 1953:

UK Secretary of State for the Colonies Mr Oliver Lyttelton, was requested to make statements regarding the conclusions reached on the future Constitutions of Northern Rhodesia and Nigeria during his visits to those territories. And also whether he would make a statement on a recent Conference held in Nigeria.
He answered as follows “The Lagos conference continued and completed the work of the conference held in London last summer. I am glad to be able to inform the House that it was an unqualified success.
“All the conclusions which were reached at Lagos were arrived at by general agreement. The fears which had been expressed in some quarters that my decision at the London conference to make Lagos, a Federal Territory would make this impossible have proved unfounded.
“I welcome this opportunity of paying tribute to the spirit of goodwill in which all the delegations approached the task. All the delegations showed a remarkable insight into the niceties of Constitutional checks and balances and displayed a willingness to sink sectional interest for the common good.
“The work involved Is massive but I hope they will be ready in about six months time. The revised constitution will be reviewed again at a further conference of similar composition to be held not later than August 1956 when any question relating to the constitution will be open for discussion.
“The new arrangement under which the Southern Cameroons will cease to be part of the Eastern Region but will continue to be administered as part of Nigeria, as quasi Federal Territory was worked out in agreement with the representatives of the Southern Cameroons.
It is welcome to them and was endorsed by other Nigerian delegations. The insulation from politics of the Judiciary, the Police and the Public Service has been secured with general approval.
“The decisions taken in London and confirmed at Lagos to regionalise the Public Service and the Judiciary have been criticized on grounds of expense and administrative inconvenience.
“I would however remind the House that even the smallest of the three regions in Nigeria with a population of 6.360,000 million is - with the exception of Tanganyika - bigger than any other British Colonial Territory anywhere else in the world.

NIGERIA HAD FOUR PRE-AND-FIVE POST-INDEPENDENCE CONSTITUTIONS!

Sir Arthur Lyttelton Constitution of 1954 was the last of the pre-independence documents which existed for six years and ushered peaceful transition through the first Independence Constitution of 1960 for Nigeria.

QUESTION: Could it be said that Nigeria got its Independence on a “PLATTER OF GOLD” and as such did not cherish it’s own worth? And therefore like the PRODIGAL SON, went abroad to squander all the abundant riches of the greatly-endowed nation with Foreign-Exchange Earner Crude Oil and over 35 identified natural resources buried in the belly of the helpless Giant Nation!

Current Nigerian leaders should bury their heads in shame for bringing the Giant of Africa into so much disrepute among the comity of Nations.
They must not be allowed to go scot-free with all the stolen wealth of this nation in their possession!

Nigerian Whistleblowers MUST move into action now and expose this corrupt leaders before they can cover up their dirty Deals!
NIGERIA SHOULD FOLLOW GREAT BRITAIN'S FOOTSTEPS IN ORDER TO CHANGE ITS PRESENT IGNOMINABLE IDENTITY!

[WATCH OUT FOR A NIGERIAN PRIME MINISTER – NOT A PRESIDENT IN 2023!]

I am, yours sincerely, Dr. David B.A. Olufon. 08130669886, 08080243066. g-mail-dvdolufon@gmail.
