This report is publised solely in our capacity as an Igbo think tank.

THE SCENARIO

Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ACN adopts Chris Ngige as it’s presidential candidate, and Bukola Saraki, a Fulani from the Middle Belt, as it's vice presidential candidate.

WHY IT WOULD BE EFFECTIVE

1. Ngige, A highly respected Igbo politician captures the South East/ Igbo parts of the South South.

2. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a Yoruba, and the principal leader of ACN ensures massive South West turnout for the Ngige/Saraki ticket.

3. Saraki, uses his Fulani- Middle Belt origins to sway both the Mid- Belt and the Core North to support the ticket.

4. Since President Jonathan would not be running, the ACN, and Ngige-Saraki could then lobby him for the rest of the votes of the South South. This would give him the opportunity to repay some political I.O.U’s.

Note: For this to work, Senator Saraki wouldn't even need to leave the PDP. The ACN and PDP forces would just need to come together, as the ANPP and AD did for the 1999 presidential elections.

LAST WORD

For this scenario to become reality, there needs to be a high level of trust among the three principal actors: Ngige, Tinubu and Saraki. They would also need to win the crucial support of President Jonathan.

In as much as i support igbo presidency,i dont see a chameleon like Saraki winning a single vote 4 that cause in the North. When it come to things like this Bukola can never be seen as a Northerner. BTW,d Northerners will fight tooth n nail to hv d power come 2015;especially with d likes of Atiku

In this arrangement Ngige would sweep the South East. Tinubu would sweep the South West. South South would lean towards ACN. Saraki would not have a problem wooing the Middlebelt. In the later stages, the Fulani would support their brother.

ACN's best bet is to present a northerner from the middle belt say from Benue, Plateau, Kogi or Kwara and get a VP from the South East.

Ngige remains the best choice from the southeast for the presidency in 2015
Re: How Igbo Can Become Next President: The Saraki- Tinubu- Ngige Connection by chino11(m): 8:57pm On Aug 12, 2011
But not thru the yooroba party acn. I wish Ngige will move to PDP soon, that will give a broader vantage ground for the presidency

The truth of the matter is the Igbo stand a better chance in 2015 if they field a candidate under the ACN[which seem quite easier to achieve since the ACN will desperate to cast off it's 'tribal party' label by presenting an Igbo(Ngige)]. Whatever comes out of the PDP primaries, assuming another Igbo wins it, then Ngige can stand down a few days to the elections.

basically an igbo person should win it regardless?  undecided

Why should Ngige stand down for the other igbo? did Buhari stand down for Yaradua? or Obasanjo for Falaye*

Naija politics is funny sha, someone look from the outside will call us name discussing tribe instead of past records and programmes

For at least 2 reasons:

1. The ACN lacks national appeal, though that appeal could spread further eastward if they are the only party fielding an Igbo candidates.

2. The most obvious stumbling block to an Igbo becoming president in 2015 are the Fulanis. If perchance, they lose out in the PDP primaries to an Igbo aspirant, I forsee them rallying behind northern based party like CPC or ANPP or something else just like they did with Buhari. If this happens, it's a disadvantage having 2 Igbo candidates split their votes in 2 different parties(that is assuming an Igbo wins the PDP primaries)

Like I said earlier, not withstanding how we Igbo sometimes speak poorly of the ACN, having one of our own run under that party could be one of the keys in actualizing a 2015 Igbo presidency. P primaries)

But what if Tinubu and co get paid so handsomely again, in cash or in kind, and they make a Ribadu out of the Igbo candidate they adopted?
So even if Ngige were to be nominated by the ACN as its presidential candidate in 2015, he might end up getting as much support among the Yorubas as Ribadu got in 2011, which was zero! And even if we were to disregard what Tinubu might do or fail to do, I do not personally believe that an average Yoruba voter would trust an Ngige in 2015 more than he/she (dis)trusted a Ribadu in the last election.

Does this picture look like there is any presidency in Ngige Future. Does this picture look like there is future for Igbo presidency. I laugh in idimili language.

Look by removing Edo,delta and Yoruba. What it means is that Igbo percentage in Nigeria population increase from less than 10% to about 25% which brighten the chances of Igbo president.

lol. Stated as a matter of fact without any logic. Quite onlike you. Anyway, I strongly disagree. Igbos have a very good chance of winning the presidency in 2015.

X-factoria:

Igbos will most likely file behind APGA Presidential candidate rather than an SE ACN VP. This will work against the ACN candidate in the SE/SS. Not a very smart options if you ask me. Such a pair would also be easily trounced, by the PDP, even if they go for a SE VP.

Lol. Guys keep forgetting a certain fellow called Ribadu. Which party fielded him again please? Who voted for him? Please find a better strategy for Igbo presidency. The ACN angle is defective.

The south are not one. Different region with different goal on 2015. SW is passive on 2015.

The North are more united than the south. That is the problem.
