Breaking: Court Orders ASUU To Call Off Strike Immediately

At this point, ASUU does not have any choice but suspend the ongoing strike and resume lectures.

The National Industrial Court has ordered the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), to call off the ongoing Strike.

Delivering a ruling on the interlocutory injunction filed by the Federal government, Justice Polycarp Hamman restrained ASUU from continuing with the industrial action pending the determination of the suit.

Justice Hamman who is a vacation judge ordered that the case filed should be returned to the president of the Industrial Court for reassignment to another judge.

The Judge further held that the industrial action is detrimental to public university students who cannot afford to attend private tertiary institutions.

He said the Trade Dispute Act mandates workers not to embark on strike once an issue has been referred to the industrial court.
Justice Hamman also upheld the application of the Federal Government saying it was meritorious and granted.

The court therefore restrained “ASUU, whether by themselves, members, agents, privies or howsoever called, from taking further steps and doing any act in continuance of the strike action pending the hearing and determination of the suit filed.”

The judge refused to fine the federal government as demanded by ASUU.

Lol

ASUU will likely appeal the case but if they lose out of the appeal then they'd have to choice than to call off the strike

I think the president in person of Muhammad Buhari is the only one above the law going by his antecedents grin

Federal government can't just ask them to call off the strike without coming to an agreement with ASUU. They are people's parents that need money to survive in this country of ours. They also have children to take care of also.

And if federal government doesn't meet their demands ASUU will call for another strike so why not settle them once and for all. If we keep going back and forth with this strike then how long will it take us to finish four years course.
students need to protest against the government and not ASUU because ASUU are only asking for what belongs to them

Because they are people's parents, they should ba asking for what is impossible for employers to do? If it were private establishment, can they be misbehaving like this without being dismissed? If they think they are not satisfied with what employer has capacity to offer, they should leave the jobs and seek other greener pastures, so that people who are comfortable with employer payment arrangement and competent to work can come in.

If they think politicians are getting millions, they should resign and go and join politics. Professors, drs, teachers, engineers are all in politics, they should go and join where they think they can get financial satisfaction.

What is the impossible that they are asking for?
Money?
And am sure the private firm wont always wait for employees to go on strike before they pay them.
I don't think that you yourself will be comfortable working in a place where you always have to fight for your pay
If it's easy do you think we'll have poor people in this country
