Is poverty and joblessness really the reason for this unholy act?

Yahoo boys with their nefarious activities have badly damaged Nigeria's reputation globally.

It will take a very long time for the outside world to change its perception about us.

We all carry the stigma

Monkey dae work, baboons dae chop.
Morality seems to be in an evolutionary process and at a dampening critical point at this current stage among the youth. The fear, reverence and value hitherto that were held in high esteem have now become a thing of shame when you decide to act different and hustle legally. Currently, many of the youths are engaged in one fraudulent activity or the other and pride in it as a source of livelihood using the baseless argument of the slave trade and corrupt politicians as justification for their actions.

This getting rich quick syndrome has plunged many youths to their early death and it will only take God's grace and a good government to reduce it. Nevertheless, a mindset that is ready to work and succeed cannot be distracted irrespective of the trials and temptation. Many are earning legit using the same internet and online activities. So what makes you different? undecided undecided

May God deliver you all.

Nigeria has gradually become the home of terrorism, internet fraud, kidnapping for ransome, killing for money rituals, etc. Now who do we blame, the people or the leaders of Nigeria?

If you put the blame solely on the people caught in crime that means you do not understand the role of leadership.

Quality leadership by a determined and incorruptible leader will reset the mindset of the people.

If a leader isn't stealing, his family members, friends and associates aren't stealing, then it will be easy for the leader to use his life as an example to reorient the people and change their mindset.

If a leader is strict and not stealing from the government like Bola Tinubu and co, it will be easy for that leader to use his lifestyle to influence the citizens positively.

Take for instance someone like Bola Tinubu, what does he have to tell the people about not stealing not looting not desiring what they do not merit when he is the father of corruption, chop I chop and whatnot?

Back in the 50s and 60s and even 80s, Chinese were more criminal minded than Nigerians but a single leader who had the determination to change the statusquo brought the desired change in China and look at China today.

The same applies to Singapore. They were corrupt, poor, disorganized until Lee Kuan Yew came onboard and began to lay legacies of transparency in leadership, contentment and incorruptibility and today look at where Singapore is?

South Korea was a very wretched country around 1970 to the extent they ate human beings for survival after the Korean war, Koreans became criminals and savages but a single leader with integrity changed the story of South Korea and today Korea is one of the technology hubs of the world and among the 20th richest countries in the world now.

The major problem Nigeria have is leadership and unfortunately Nigerians aren't ready to correct their leadership mistakes by electing credible men with less baggage, not criminals and political jobbers like Tinubu who take politics and state treasury looting as their full time employment.

Arresting these youths who have taken up internet crime as a job will never solve this problem. We need to address it from the root cause which is leadership.

Nigerians must learn to reject criminal politicians who are full time political jobbers and treasury looters.

A man held Lagos state on siege since 1999, deciding who will be next Governor, Assembly member, Senator, etc and you want to elect such a political thug and criminal as President, how?

EFCC only arrest alleged yahoo boys now. They no longer arrest corrupt politicians again. They have turned blind eye to ongoing crude theft and subsidy scam. What a shame for Buhari's anti corruption noise.

The Supreme Court of Nigeria has ruled that Section 46 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Act should be construed within the narrow confines of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption, the precursor to the establishment of the EFCC - to prevent illicit financial outflow from Nigeria.

EFCC should not arrest anybody unless the allegation is about "illicit financial outflow from Nigeria".
