About Setting Up A by FriendsAndFans(op):
Hi, I am planning on settling down this year, hopefully. Most women I have met are often times corpers or women who only concentrated on academics and don't have a business/vocational trade/handwork.

I figured instead of searching for a working class lady, I can assist the one I find. I believe in such a case, one can still assist such a woman with a business to engage in. I think it's the ideal thing to do that.

The issue now is, what kind of moderate business can one setup for a lady who has little to no idea of business or vocational trade? A business that will be easy for her to cope with and expand.
*MODIFIED* BAD ADVISE

Whatever you do, setup the business in your own name, and let her be the manager i.e. work for you.

You dont necessarily need the money, but dont just open the business in her name.

E get why.

Investing on a woman is like betting..
Only stake (invest) what you can afford to lose

IMHO setting any business for A) someone who has not business expertise/knowledge/savvy or B) someone who doesnt care about running a business, is a waste of time/life/energy.

why dont you first FIND THAT WOMAN then figure out what she is good at; what she wants to do with her life and/or whats her passion etc, and take it from there. not all women can run a business successfully

- One will kneel and beg a liability to be his responsibility. Some call it "proposal" undecided

- Same person will go and pay bride price for the liability.

- After accomodating the liability, same person will still open a business for her.

All for procreation undecided

We really need to revisit some ethics in this institution called marriage.

It is the duty of the woman's parents to train and set up their daughter, that's why they demand bride price.

Paying bride price for an untrained woman who got nothing is foolishness!

Is it that you prefer idle ladies to working class ladies simply because you want to set up a business for her? That is your only reason?
Re: About Setting Up A by Nobody: 9:22pm On Sep 26, 2022
She's the one who wants to run or control the business. So does the woman want to? Is she capable of doing business? Does she have the will, the skills and the capabilities to run a business?

Na she wan run am so it depends on her.

You should figure out what she herself - the woman of your choice - wants to do or become and if it's a good idea, support her.

No be ordinary mind dey run business oo, especially in this economy.

I'm baffled too. Instead of them focus to be on the question I asked, they are worried about a different thing

The poster plans to marry a young lady and most Nigerians who are young are not settled with a gainful employment and thats his choice.

Why are people telling him what type of lady to marry ?
Re: About Setting Up A by TheeDetective: 5:36pm On Sep 28, 2022
You better ask her first if she has an interest in running a business and what type of business she would like. If you open a business and just give it to her to run, if she doesn’t like the business, it’s just going to end up being a waste of money. Rule 1; ASK her what business she likes and would be interested in running. This is because it's more likely she will put all her efforts in the business since the idea came from her directly; but if you impose the business on her as it’s your business idea, then don’t blame her if it doesn’t work out well as she will tell you that the business was your idea and not one that she liked from the start. Save your money from going to waste and ask her directly what line of business she will like to run at least then you know the business was her idea and you will be able to encourage her to make it work.

Your moniker says friends and fans

Since you are a friend and fans of the daughters of eve, why not marry one and invest in her instead of the what you are planning so that you don't come here to complain about how she recked you down and ran away with your money

Is it not same here you regularly read, "she is not working, I foot the bill in the house 100%" , "I opened a business for her but she can't account for it" etc......
