Tinubu’s Local Govt Directorate In Campaign Council Hailed by Majesty2(m): 7:40am On Sep 29, 2022
Local government chairmen across the country have hailed All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima, for creating local government directorate in the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) of the APC.
They described the action as historic and a masterstroke.
The council bosses said having a directorate for local government in the PCC was a laudable initiative.
The APC PCC list included local government directorate among other directorates with the inclusion of local governments’ practitioners as director, deputy director and secretary.
The Chairman of Bariga Local Council Development Area in Lagos State, Kolade David Alabi, was named director, his counterparts at Lafia Local Government, Nasarawa State and Dutse Local Government, Jigawa State, Aminu Muazu Maitafa and Bala Usman Chamo were appointed as deputy director and secretary.
The duo said: “In a communiqué issued at the end of the 32nd National Executive Council (NEC) Meeting of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), held on September 1 in Lokoja, Kogi State, it was stated that ‘with respect to the 2023 general election, ALGON will support and give its commitment to any presidential candidate that is committed to the actualisation of full local government autonomy.’”
The APC, they said, had displayed a commitment to their cause.
“No doubt, the ruling party has once again demonstrated its love and determination to ensure the growth of local government administration in the country.
“President Muhammadu Buhari has since the inception of his administration not hidden his feelings to see that the local government administration in the country gets its rightful place through moves to make them truly autonomous.
“We are assuring the APC Presidential Campaign Council led by President Buhari and the party’s standard-bearer, Asiwaju Tinubu and Senator Shettima of our resolve to mobilise local governments across the country to ensure APC wins the presidential election,” the duo said.

So 2nd Niger Bridge is not a good thing?
second Niger bridge that was awarded and started by GEJ and almost 50% down payment. Apc had no choice than to save face.

Second Niger bridge is the only thing you people know. A short distance bridge for crying out loud. What about Enugu-Onitsha express that has more economic value than the bridge. Look at how unbearable the economy is. APC claimed to fight corruption but their government has the highest rate of corruption. Highest rate of insecurity, angry youths everywhere, poverty rate heightened, dollar rate at all time high, patrol price at all time high, worst recession in the history of the country, countries of the world rejecting and harassing out citizens, micro businesses closing down, foreign investors leaving the country, no tourism attraction due to insecurities, students are thrown into one strike or the other.

Men in this APC government knows Bokoharam sponsors but they kept quiet. The executives are clueless, the parliaments are rubber stamps, the judiciary is the hub of injustices and corruption.

Look around you, Nigeria under APC is worse than they met it (you cannot deny it). It was the same TINUBU that orchestrated and formed this disaster and now he wants to continue from his current destruction. Tufia!!! People should be ashamed of their support for APC.

Will you people stop peddling this lazy and redundant lie? Go and learn. Jonathan approved a contract and then did nothing to deliver it. Stop telling lies. PMB is solely responsible for the delivery of the second Nigeria Bridge.

Buhari canceled the garbage contract GEJ put in place because it was political and electioneering scam as with most things connected with GEJ.

It was the Buhari Government that drew up a new and comprehensive contract with Julius Berger and committed the money needed to start and finish the project.

All GEJ did was approve a contract for planning and design. Buhari tore up his insincere garbage and produced a new game plan that has now led to this stage where the second Niger bridge is nearly completed and ready for use.

The handing over of the project by Obasanjo to Yar’ Adua made his administration to effectively inherit a ₦58.6bn proposed cost for a six lane, 1.8 km tolled bridge, which was to be completed in three-and-half years.

Based on the funding structure then, the bridge was to be financed under a public private partnership (PPP) with 60 per cent of the funding coming from the contractor, Gitto Group; 20 per cent from the federal government and 10 per cent from the Anambra and Delta State Governments.

Unfortunately, the subsequent death of Yar’ Adua on May 5, 2010 marred the progress of the project. However, in August 2012, the Federal Executive Council under the administration of Goodluck Jonathan, approved a contract worth ₦325m for the final planning and design of the bridge.

Before then, during the 2011 general election in Nigeria, Jonathan had while campaigning for office of the President promised that if elected, he would deliver the project before the end of his term in 2015.

At an Onitsha town hall meeting on August 30, 2012, Jonathan had sworn to go into exile if he did not deliver on the project by 2015.

The act of rigmarole where the Second Niger bridge was used as a major political pawn continued until Buhari first cancelled the earlier contract in August 2015.

The project was subsequently awarded to Julius Berger for a contract sum of N206bn, to be implemented by the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority with funding from the Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund.
