Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi has made clarifications on a viral video making the rounds on social media, wherein he was presumed to have ordered some of his security aides to flog civil servants at the government’s house.
The governor who described the controversial video as doctored and manipulated, however, disclosed that the incident was an aborted attempt by miscreants to block the Airport gate in the guise that they were enforcing a sit-at-home order.
Umahi made the rebuttal on Tuesday night in a statement signed by the state’s Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Orji Uchenna Orji made available to newsmen and.
The statement reads, ” Our attention has been drawn to a doctored footage purporting to be Civil Servants rolling on the ground and being flogged by security personnel in the presence of the Governor of Ebonyi State while on inspection at the Government House gate, Abakaliki as reported …shared widely in different social media platforms and accepted line hook and sinker by the gullible.
“We wish to inform members of the public that the purported footage is a video manipulation of an aborted attempt by miscreants to block the Airport gate and inflict fear on those working at the on going International Airport and possibly embarrass the Governor who was on a routine inspection visit to the Airport project, in guise that they were enforcing sit-at home- order at the premises of the Airport on Tuesday, 4th September,2022.
“It would be recalled that miscreants had in the past tried to attack those working at the Airport site and their plots were neutralized
“Contrary to the fake report that the incident happened \ at the gate of the Government House in Abakaliki while the Governor was on supervision, the miscreants were dispelled at the gate of the new Airport under construction. It is to be noted that no Civil Servants or employees whatsoever have been recruited to work in the Airport and so no Civil Servant was flogged at the Airport gate, contrary to impression in the trending report. We are therefore surprised at the basis of the unintelligent fabrications of the mischief makers.
“There is no amount of blackmail that can distract the performing Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency Engr Chief David Nweze Umahi FNSE FNATE who had visited the Airport to carry out his routine inspection of projects as regular inspection of projects is one the reasons why we pride with quality assurance in our policy of monitoring and evaluation in Government businesses.
“Members of the public are therefore enjoined to discountenance the manipulated trending video as the handiwork of enemies of progress.”

When i heard in the video that it was Government House Gate. I didn't even bother to know it was all fake. Because that is the Airport Gate. So every other thing said in that video doesn't matter to me. Pple can use just a lil cue to know if things are fake or not.
You see how these people behave sometimes... You wonder whether they have conscience at all. They tell lies, manipulate facts, rewrite history and are usually ethnocentric in their approach to everything.

Obafemi Awolowo and Ahmadu Bello shared the same ideas over Nigeria in the period leading to Independence:
1. They both wanted completely AUTONOMOUS REGIONS of NORTH FOR NORTHERNERS, WEST FOR WESTERN AND EAST FOR EASTERNERS.
Nnamdi Azikiwe accused them of TRIBALISM. He wanted ONE NIGERIA where EASTERNERS can be EVERYWHERE TO DOMINATE.
2. They both requested for SECESSION CLAUSE IN THE CONSTITUTION so that any region which didn't feel good with the union can easily pull out. Nnamdi Azikiwe ran to the UK to tell the Colonial Masters that Awolowo and Bello were Anarchists. He insisted there shouldnt be such a clause and that NIGERIA MUST BE ONE INDIVISIBLE COUNTRY.
3. The two great men preferred for themselves to be in the headquarters of their region. Ahmadu Bello sat in KADUNA developing his Region and People. doing a a lot of landmark achievemens. Very few Northerner had any desire to leave the Northern Region

Nnamdi Azikiwe refused to sit in ENUGU.

4. Ahmadu Bello and Awolowo weren't too anxious for the 1st October 1960 date for independence.

Aguiyi-Ironsi, his Igbo Kinsmen was the Commander of the Army. More than half of the Commissioned.Officers of the Army were Igbos. The Federal civil service was filled with Igbos. The civil service of Northern Nigeria had an overwhelming Igbo presence before Ahmadu Bello's vision trimmed it down.
The Western Region civil service had plenty igbos. Igbos were everywhere.
But you couldn't find NON-IGBOS IN THE CIVIL SERVICE OF EASTERN NIGERIA. That was Azikiwe's PERFECT NIGERIA He wanted Independence in a hurry so the Igbos could finally dominate.
