As the world marks the 2022 World Teacher's Day, a Development Enthusiast and Educationist, Sylvanus Asuquo Udoenoh, has called on the President Muhammadu Buhari and the Federal Government of Nigeria to immediately address issues arising from the ongoing strike by the members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities - ASUU and other teachers union to save the face of Nigeria Education Sector.

The release furthers, "As each day passes, we are awakened to the realization of the wonderful role that teachers play in the building of our society. The 2022 World Teacher's Day is themed, "The transformation of Education Begins with a Teacher", according the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), with an aim to focus on educators' work, take stock of achievements, and raise awareness around teachers' challenges and the role of teachers in the achievement of the global education targets.

Mr. Udoenoh went further to state that, "Teaching has continued to be a more demanding profession, especially in an increasingly complex, highly technical, and fast-changing world, and with many of our children struggling with difficult social and personal issues." He mentioned that, "That so many children in midst of these challenges, nonetheless go on to acquire the essential skills needed to participate in society, is a tribute to the persistence, dedication, and professionalism of teachers."

"It is this dedication, commitment, and professionalism that has produced the great inventors, leaders, professionals, artistes, entrepreneurs, celebrities, etc. A famous saying goes that, "without a teacher, the life of a student is a life without any direction", revealing that it is the teacher who inspires the ordinary pupil to do extraordinary things that enrich the society."

He expressed the hope that, "with a greater level of commitment of relevant stakeholders to the welfare of the teachers and the educational sector, there is so much we will accomplish as a people and as a society." Mr. Udoenoh used the opportunity to call on President Muhammadu Buhari and the Federal Government of Nigeria to immediately address all pending issues regarding the ongoing strike action by the members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities - ASUU to save the face of our educational sector."
