This is a major bane of our society! We have made our leaders live in the euphoria of doing us a favour whenever they "serve" the people for which they were chosen in the first place. This doesn't in no way mean that the people shouldn't commend them when they "serve" creditably to the satisfaction of the people as a token of encouragement to them. However, what the SUMAC and the UNN academics displayed before the Governor, smacks of servile flattery with the intent to ingratiate themselves with the Governor through sheer sycophantic praises. What a pity that even those in the academia, the academic warehouses of "intellectuals" could condescend so low to hero-worshiping, bootlicking and outright buffoonery to the chagrin of those who look up to them as beacons of society. How different are they from the so-called illiterates, market women, motor park touts, etc? Ok, I see! They are "academic agberos".... and IDIOTAS! |
